Our 2001 Allison GMC 2500 I change the fluid and spin on filter every 25.000 miles.
The owners manual doesn't list interval nor fluid type so I went with Dextron 3 and a new filter saving and reusing the magnet.

Our 2015 GMC 3500 Allison owners manual states Dextron 6 at 97.000 mile intervals.

I hear it's ok to use the SYN 295 fluids. The tale goes it's better but more money than the Dextrons. Longer between intervals and evidently lubes a bit better when dirty.

Any takes?

In my 04 I change the spin on every 10k. The internal filter every 50k. I run Amsoil signature series ATF.

Fluid and filters are cheap maintenance.

Our 2001 Allison had Dextron 3 and I changed it out with Transyd 295 and a new spin on.
Didn't say a thing to the wife. She had no clue I serviced it.
She drove it to work and mentioned out of the blue the next day the truck is running/shifting smoother.

Damfino.

The Dually has Dextron 6 I'll change that this weekend even though it has 25.000 miles.
Towing that 18.000 GVW trailer it has to be good insurance to change it out.

Wife loves driving the trucks and I'm telling her they are not practical daily drivers.

Have to start the research for a new economy car but she's balking on that idea because she like driving the trucks so much..
