I have purchased an iPad mount for our Can Am. My plan was to buy a new 12.9” iPad and repurpose my current 12.9” iPad. Turns out that the iPad is too tall. I am thinking that I just have to make a new part to extend the added length needed. I‘d like to know if anyone knows what type of material should be used. At first I was thinking aluminum but some sort of plastic would offer great flexibility without bending Like aluminum would

Would something like this stock sheet ABS work or is there something better?

After posting I realized that this might be the wrong section. Might have been better in the Off-road section. As the lack of responce here shows that it is too difficult of a task for those in this section.

I guess that I will have st start a thread in that section. Thank you. 👍

What part are you extending?

The original looks to be about 1/8" thick injection molded, probably a polycarbonate/abs blend. The polycarbonate gives it better rigidity than straight ABS.

1/8" thick ABS sheet stock will be pretty "floppy" in that application I think, I would go with 1/8" aluminum and not worry about being a little stiffer than the original.

Edit: Remake the whole piece at the required longer length in aluminum, vs. making an extension.
