Just wondering if anyone has run American Racing Torq Thrust II's on their trailer? I have a 1991 Ellis tandem with 14"x6" chrome modular rims that came on the trailer. I want to go up to 15" x 6" Torq Thrusts and probably 225/60or 50/ R15 Good year Endurance tires. My concern is with the center caps clearing the bearing buddies. There is a tall cap available but not sure if it will clear. A spacer might have to be used behind the cap. Love the look of the Torq Thrusts. I'm not opposed to removing the 5 allen screws to grease the hubs. Just wondered if anyone has experience with this installation. What do you think?

SFV2RVR I cannot seem to open your attachment. I get an error message. Who machined your spacers? How thick did you have to go? Thanks for the reply.

I machined mine to just poke through and hate it. If I had to do it over again, I'd just ditch the BB and put caps on the bearings, and install the factory center cover. I service my trailers yearly anyways, so the BB is kind of a waste.

That all said, I have 4 new caps, and the boat is for sale, so the next owner can do as they wish.

Beautiful rig. I think I will remove the B Buddies an put caps on like you suggested. I service mine regularly also. Either way you have to take off 5 lugs or 5 set screws. I have a 598 cu in. SC Connolly 21' Ski Bum that looks very similar. Thanks for the post.

That looks like an Ellis trailer. Are those 15" wheels and what size tires?

I'll be home tomorrow and will see what size they are. As for those allen screws that hold the cap on, they are JUNK!!!! Use caution with those! Locktite on first install and never remove them would be my suggestion.

I have a buddy that machines them for me in the San Fernando Valley. I can have him make more if you need them done. I wanna say they were close to $35-40 each after all said and done polished. They’re approximately 3/4” thick.

Another alternative is to cut the center out of the stock AR cap so it fits over the bearing buddy. That's what I did on my Mach 22 trailer. I can't find any pics right now, IIRC the bearing buddy stick out of the cap about 1/2".

Pretty simple process on a lathe, i drilled and tapped a fixture plate to hold the cap, mounted it in the lathe chuck, drilled a 1" hole and then bored to about .030" over the diameter of the bearing Buddy vinyl cover.

I wanna say they’re around $140 for a set of 4 by the time I pay for the material and have them water jetted and sent out for polishing.

I think they look good. Certainly easy to manage the Bearing Buddies with open caps.

Sorry the pics aren't a little more direct, for some reason I didn't get any shots straight on before I sold the boat.

Now what are you working on?? 😎
I’ve had the Torque Thrust rims on my Flattie trailer for a couple of years now and I keep meaning to buy some spacers for them……. So now is the time if SFV2RVR still has some 🙏

Thanks for checking on our spot that’s my Old trailer my son took over we haven’t been out except for Me to help him set up 👍 I’m having our trailer brought out July 29th then we will be down for a couple of weeks 👍 Maybe will see You OR your Parents out at that time 👍

Hope we run into you guys! Post up some pics with the new wheels on the trailer when you get a chance. I'd love to see how they look!

For those of you that have run Torq Thrust II's on your trailers, can you share what size rims you went with and the associated backspacing/offset? My trailer currently has 0 offset 14 rims with 205/75R14 tires. Not opposed to putting a larger wheel on but would need to figure out tire sizes to get close to the same as I don't want to deal with modifying fenders. Any info on your tires is appreciated as well.
