Hey guys,
Posting up a learning experience I had from upgrading the sound system in my Baja Outlaw 20'
The very first and most important thing I learned was to test out amps that have been sitting in your garage for 3+ years before you base the entire amp rack design off them <-- that should of been a given but I was too amped to get started...
The second thing was always always always K.I.S.S. I overbuilt for scenarios that would never happen and thus was left with a mounting solution that was far too complicated.
In the end this design just didn't work and I had to take it apart
Google and YouTube taught me a ton about things like:
- tinned wired and it's important in marine applications
- converting speaker watt usage - amperes - wire gauge
- RMS wattage vs. max wattage ratings in speakers and amps
- 5200 is stronger than Thor's hammer
- importance of a common grounding blocks for sound systems
- keep the hole drilling in your boat to a bare minimum if possible
Here are some pics for your enjoyment!
