So the first day was uneventful. I heard they sold one car today. Didn’t here which one or how much. Some of the stuff here is higher than giraffe pussy. I guess it is better to start high but some probably won’t sell. I think I am ok with mine. Time will tell. So a little back story on pricing. There is a 30k tariff for each car that sells that the seller has to pay. So they tell you to mark the car up to cover it. Hopefully the pics post in the right order. The brodozer for 340k made me laugh.

Hoooooly Shhhhhit! Thats some coin!!!
I mean the cars look unbelievable but...what did it cost to ship yours over and whats a booth go for etc. I guess people can ask whatever they want but WOW! Pricing seams out of this world even with the $30k included in the prices... If that 72 Blazer sells for $300K+ I have one for you to work your magic on.

The whole thing has been no cost to the vendors or car owners. The Saudi’s have payed for everything and then some. There are still people waiting for there booth materials. Hell I am still waiting for my other car to get placed. But since it was free you can’t complain too loudly. They are actually paying us to be there. For a first time deal across the world it has gone pretty well.

If you were a billionaire sheik, why would you not just hop on your private jet and head to the U.S. and buy whatever you want at a fraction of the price? Or better yet, have someone build exactly what you want. Surprised anything sells at those prices. Not like they can't just jump on the internet and get real world prices all day long.

Status, bragging rights? That's the way the auctions used to be, don't know about the past few years.

I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret. The pictures do not do any justice for that Camero, if you saw it in person you would understand what I am saying.

I didn’t even post pics of my price. And I am semi realistic. From what I hear most of these cars would be illegal over here. But the king is making an exception with these cars being here. Supposedly he has made it so if they purchase a car at the show it can be driven out of here. Things are definitely different over here. Plus they can buy these and have instant gratification.

Cubic dollar impulse buys. It's nothing to them, and these are just toy cars. I can't imagine the FU money. I hope the patrons have been treating you and the other Americans well.

If not, ask them where you can get some bacon and eggs for breakfast...or a ham and cheese for lunch:rolleyes:

So I heard a story of air freighting a vendors trailer over here as some one screwed up in the shipping. Supposedly cost around 100k.

That actually doesn't seem too bad. Years ago I shipped a car to Germany and it cost me 2k. Canned it like sardines with 4 others in a container...and it took about six weeks from drop off to pickup:eek:

BTW, cool pics from the pickup bed. Looks like the roadways in that area are good. Do people drive like maniacs there, like Mexico? Or more tame?

People can’t drive worth a shit over here. On the way back last night they were going 4-wide on a 2-lane road. Makes Desert center on a holiday weekend look tame. They also have what they call the Saudi Sweep. From the right lane all the way to left lane to make a turn. And stopping at a light or sign is optional. Glad I am not driving.

Any Tire kickers?
2. You've driven incredible rides. What's a camel going to hurt. :p
3. What's up with the loop? Any takers? Report.

lots a lookie lous. Not a lot of action on sales in general. The auction was a bust except that monsterous semi out of Havasu sold for 12 million to a guy in China. No camel for me. Don’t want to break a hip over here. They have done the loop daily.

Any international incidents yet? Find some strippers and booze and make it happen:p;)

If you can find any deals on magic carpets let us know. It would be fun to have magic carpet races with Shintoo over the holidays :D:p

Sucks things aren't selling. There is also the one time exemption for non legal cars bought at the event and it still doesn't seem to be working.

With that said some of the prices are insane and even though there is alot of $$$ maybe the guys know when they are getting burned...lol

Looks to be a really cool event...Not sure if all the people will make that trip and ship cars again with how things have gone however.

Second to the last day. Talking to the guy working the salon sale, he said he has had more offers today then all last week combined. So that is a good sign. For a Monday it was surprisingly busy today. These people are nocturnal. The show didn’t get busy till around 5:00. I fired up the camaro and had a crowd of locals around it. Surprised it started as most of the cars had dead batteries on arrival. One of the trophy trucks and I made a deal for tomorrow. Every hour we are going to fire em up just to stir the pot and hopefully help a sale.

The 1940, with the '39 grille, What were they asking(If you looked)? It's a parts car more-door:confused: Maybe with the extra wives it's a selling point? If it sells, I need to figure out the marketing angle. Build it, sell it, and send it to the other side of the planet...it's a beautiful thing:)

The guy that built the truck was a developer in Havasu. His company built the London Bridge Hotel. He has been trying to build a high rise in Santa Ana for a few years.
http://mikeharrah.com/contractor-developer.htm

He, like many visionary's, live at the top and likewise claw their way up from the deep canyons --- I know I've met this guy, either in OC or Havasu, just can't recall.
His world went to shit in 1990, amazing he recovered.

Has anybody asked what it's gonna take to ship the cars BACK? Hopefully they aren't gonna hold the cars ransom with crazy high teriffs and shipping charges and all in hopes that it doesn't make it worth it to ship it out of there. Them Saudis typically don't like to NOT get their way.

It's my understanding shipping is included and won't be an issue.

I'm not sure how many cars ended up selling I know that alot of stuff happens last minute. Bones can speak to if anything ended up selling.

I haven't heard a singe bad thing about the expierence. One of my best friends said the treatment was first class across the board. He had a great time and had nothing bad to share aside from the jet lag and no booze...lol

I was hoping that he sold his cars while he was out there!

The prices are crazy as F.. But when you factor in that everybody was flown over there, the cars were shipped free, and everyone was basically paid to be there that can add up quick.

That said I can't believe that Semi sold for 12 million.. LOL Talk about catering to the right market wow!

Unfortunately mine didn’t sell. But a lot didn’t sell. At the auction I heard 5 out of 125 sold. They were workin some last minute deals but last I heard was 15-20 cars sold total. I don’t have much to complain about. I got a free trip to the Middle East. The cars are being shipped back on there dime. There were a few cars damaged on the way over. How they take care of those and how all the cars make it back will be the real determining factor. There is already talk of doing it again next year. There was definitely some first time teething pains and 2 days of record rain right before the show didn’t help the issues. The people were nice and friendly. All in all it was a good experience.
