Has the deck been bonded here? In terms of gel alignment, is there some optical illusion with a step or is it not set in final position yet? Thanks for posting this build.

Hmm Awesome colors. Looks like the front lines are off a bit but could just be it's not bonded together yet. Well be interesting to see how that is resolved.

It looks to me like these boats are a “shoe box” configuration, the deck literally fits the hull like a shoe box lid, overhanging the hull by anywhere from an inch or more(vertically) Usually more, lol.
Transferring angles and measurements between two molds, that don’t “butt fit” can be very challenging to almost impossible.

One has to account for the overhang, the thickness of the eventual laminant, shrinkage(fiberglass parts do shrink a little), how much gap is present fore and aft, etc. it can get a little mind boggling. Even for someone used to doing shit inside out and upside down.

Overall that gel design is a pretty good chunk of work. A lot of points to clean. And, I charge more for that kinda stuff, lol.
Advantages gel guy get a pat on the back on this job, by someone who knows what it took to do it.

Ok , View attachment 818447 T&Y and ChevelleSB406 / we get that sometimes where it looks off until the Rub rail on then it looks right :)

note the photos,

Thank you View attachment 818448 View attachment 818449

Awesome job and thank you for taking the time to explain, the shoebox joint makes total sense for how it throws the eye before the rub rail is mounted, and thank you @Gelcoater for the clarification and pointing out the skill over at Advantage as well.

Why do manufacturers choose a shoe box fit instead of a “butt” style fit?
