...And these aren't your basic normal books. The first one I believe is out of print, and maybe only had two limited runs.
"Scientific American: Book of Projects for the Amateur Scientist"

The other is apparently in print, but only paperback. Hoping to find a hardcover.
"Ignition! An Informal History of Liquid Rocket Propellants"

I think I can find used hardcover of "Ignition!" for a 100$ or so, but don't know the sellers...so kind of a crapshoot on their honesty. I've never bought a used book over the interweb either.
Now, the Scientific American book is from 1960...Used ones are a bit over 200$, but hey, there are some "new" ones for about 500$
He's a nerd, but a borderline brilliant nerd. He dug up some plans for a pulse-jet recently, and has been tweaking them a little. I'll be scavenging some stainless in the next week or so. I'll have him and his brother measure, mark and cut some pieces. I'll tig them, and we'll see what we can do. School is a bit boring for both my boys, so if nerdy stuff keeps them interested , than that's what we'll do!
