Any desert gardners in here?

Looking for a hedge about 4ft wide by 4ft tall that can survive in the desert. Need it to hide some mechanical equipment. I'll have it on a drip system. Drawn toward bouganvilla or something like that. Something with color. Bouganvilla seems to get out of control too fast. Any ideas?
