First pickup truck I bought with my own money was a 2000 CCSB, which was my dream truck for looks/styling. Unfortunately I settled on color, I wish I could go back in time and hold out for a white one. I did like blue trucks as a kid (varsity blues lifted square body!!) , so likely why I considered this one, but I think I was also just so excited to be able to afford to pay cash for my own truck that could tow my landcruiser around that the color really didn't matter to me. It has a stroked 489 now, thanks to a blown head gasket and not being able to leave well enough alone.

IMG_0271.JPG

My middle brother has an absolutely stunning '97 1500. I guess he has owned it for almost 20 years now and its a garage queen. Nothing special other than the lift, wheels, tires, and condition of body. I'm not a fan of owning a black truck, but it's all he will own. I have to admit its hard to beat a clean black truck, but living in Washington state, that is nearly impossible for most of the year.

My youngest brother just recently sold his '98 1500. It was also a very pretty truck, though I didn't like his choice of wheels. He wasn't into modifying trucks like me or my middle brother, he got the sports genes whereas me and my other brother got the mechanical genes.

IMG_3798.JPG

I waffle back & forth all the time on selling the 2000. Current fuel prices certainly wouldn't help me get rid of it as its not really anything special like the red 454SS truck listed above. I have a very clean (and white) 2002 2500HD which I prefer in every way to the OBS, but the nostalgia of the OBS wont let me go. I spent some time photoshoping my truck onto my brother's chassis many years ago and I think I keep dreaming one day I will lift it and find some polished welds and all will be right in the world...

Keep an eye out on Ebay. Every once in awhile, you'll see a set of Welds pop up for a decent price. If your lucky and quick on the draw, you can score a nice set. I picked up a set of four off of Craigslist for $400. New, each wheel was selling for $300! I finally found a single matching wheel to use as a spare on Ebay, so once I polish it up and install a new tire, I'll have a matched set of five. 😎

Love the trucks you guys have. I always wanted a lifted white 2500 crew cab 4wd. One of the best looking trucks GM has ever built.

@Tank old truck?

Nope. Not my old truck. Mine had a purple pearl and graphics on the bottom. Sat on concept Neepers.

I used to see it around Ventura but haven’t seen it in about 10 years.

There’s a GANGSTER dropped crew cab down by lax I want to ask the guy if he wants to sell. It’s always sitting there.

When I head over to my moms this afternoon to work on her tractor I’ll nab a picture of her 94 Chevrolet 3500 4 x 4 crew cab that is sitting in the barn there. I don’t even think it has 70,000 miles.

The time near LAX. never moves. Looks very nice.

I want to stop and see if he wants to sell. Someone told me it was listed for sale a few months back. 🤷🏻‍♂️

the grey Dually is Chris the Pintriper. The 2dr Hoe has a sad story behind it, the new owners buddy searched high and low for this truck, found it in the midwest and had it shipped to Vegas. He passed away the week it got there. The wife reached out to his buddy who lives here and offered it to him for pennies on the dollar and thats how it landed here in Havasu. The Suburban seems to have started showing a lot lately, wonder if its new to town

Put some miles on the OBS this week and gave it a nice detail after being neglected for probably over a year. Ordered a new GM AC compressor as this one is leaking, will give it an oil change this weekend, and need to inventory what i have and what i need to order to finish the kodiak door handle installation for the other 3 doors.

Does anyone have a good solution to the door hinges and door sag on this era of truck? Back in the day there was a bad ass kit with stainless pins and bronze bushings, but its no longer made. My #complaint with this truck is the door sag on both the front doors. Maybe if i eliminated all the moulding and stainless rocker panels it wouldnt be as obvious.

I bored, stroked, did custom Racetec pistons, Lunati towing cam (similar to zz502 cam specs), and rebuilt the stock heads on the 454 about 10 years ago now. Its never ran “right” even after a couple back and forths with the mail order tune place i used. I need to find a ride-along tuner that can get this thing dialed in, i feel its leaving a lot on the table. It should burn the tires off the truck and i cant even get it to chirp the tires. It definitely has more torque than it did prior to the rebuild/upgrades, but its performance is a complete disappointment for dollars spent. Part of that is probably due to the fact i retained the vortec heads…..

I used to see a couple of those short bed crew cabs running around Tucson here along with a few burb duallys. I wish my 3500 was a SB. Lol. Cool find.

I did DDC wheels on my 2012 dually, Blake is a good dude and cut me a hell of a deal. I bought my set up in the middle of the covid mess, he usually has them in stock at his corona location

Do you have any pictures of the interior after swapping in the '18 seats and console?
