Been combing through samba like crazy. Some cool stuff on there. Man, prices are all over the map.

1st car I owned was a 67 Bug. I completely rebuilt the entire car.

The second one I had was a 72 Super Beetle. That one was a lot nicer and faster than the 67.

I admired bugs and driven them (cousin had a 72) but never owned one. Had a 71 Ghia coupe, bought spur of the moment really cheap. Starbucks chick needed rent money and sold it too me for $300. My uncle restores classic Chevy's on the side and has a paint booth at his house. Tossed a paint job on it, the interior was in good shape and sold it for $2,800. Drove it for a year before selling it, the car was a major chick magnet. Best car I've driven for chicks.

I also had a VW VR6 Corrado. Id like to eventually get another of each.

Not bad, mine was way nicer. But the values have gone up a lot since the 1990's. Back then parts super cheap, you get a used 1600 motor for $275 and brand new made in Brazil for I think $1,200.

Great start for a project. Not all cut up. Black & gold California plates make a nice addition as well.

Prices have gone WAY up and some of the old school goodies are long gone. Like Berg 5 speeds. :(

When it comes to motors the prices have gone up for sure and the quality of parts has gone down. in the past few years.

I have a nice 2275 in my buggy right now and it aint that cheap to rebuild it as it was when i first built it.The case alone cost me 500 bucks(alm supercase)Last i heard there at or almost a 1000 for the same thing.

I have a 65 Baja with a 2332. I love that car. Beats up a lot of V8 cars, with the front tires in the air.

Its a good start. Its tough to find a clean starter for restoration, most are rust buckets. You can find an original good driver for about $7k though and a fresh restored ones go for about $14k.

I want one for pure nostalgia purposes. Girls would come up to you at 7-eleven or gas stations in that car. If you put a for sale sign on, it was like catnip to chicks. Id say if you are under 25, its the best car to buy period.

I'm not a VW guy but a long time friend (Danny) is. He has all kinds of postings on the samba, he goes by the name "Gab Fab". This guy is a very talented fabricator. He has worked with Chip Foose and (Fat Man) Boyd years ago to name a few...

My buddys gonna be selling his 57 CONV soon, it's a Barrett Jackson purchase from 20 years ago and is still perfect, I'll update the info as soon as it's passed on, car is black with tan interior and top if memory serves me correct. It's kept covered and stored and only driven a few times per year.

I told myself I will have a Notch someday.........had a 62 Rag w/fiberglass front end in high school. Fun car.....I still kick myself for getting rid of it. Wouldn't mind getting another one...pre-62. Or a convertible. The older the better.

Want to find one with good paint. I can bolt stuff together but I'm not a paint or body man by any means.

I have a 66 bug with factory sunroof. I've had the car since high school. It hasn't run in about 10 years although there is really nothing wrong with it other than its uglier than sin. I'm gonna get around to redoing it one of these days. Maybe when my boys are old enough to help.

I've always wanted an early 60s or late 50's bug. Semifor rag top oval would be my dream. Whether it was grafted or not. But just hasn't happened. And now the prices are crazy expensive. I can buy a droptoo early impala for nearly the same money.

Just sold my 66 to pay off a credit card and buy a new washer/dryer. Wanna get a 56 for another project someday soon. Been an Airhead since I was brougt into this world. My pop and his buddy ran an aircooled shop for a few years and did some drag racing. Fun times.
