Cool, didnt know it was safe to go there any more.

We did all that many moons ago, Ngorongoro was cool, tons of animals. We went to Olduvai Gorge as well. Back then they were still doing archeological digs, not sure what’s what now. Most of the time we were camped out in the bush hunting in the Selious.

The hunts are a dream of mine, but the price I just can’t stomach...I’m ok with just watching for now lol

Well I have the lion rug for sale if that helps, but you have to be a resident of AZ to buy it.

I hunted a GMA in 2018 called Ibanda/Rumanyika. I was the very last hunter. It was being converted to National Park status as of 2019. While we were hunting, TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks) were in the area surveying the roads, doing rough animal counts.

Don't act gay while you're there:

Members of the LGBTI community have been arrested, targeted, harassed, and/or charged with unrelated offenses. Individuals detained under suspicion of same-sex sexual conduct could be subject to forced anal examinations.

Man, that's awesome and certainly not a location I've ever considered for a vacation. Is that Zanzibar ? Safe ? I mean from rebel machine gun fire  Or Somali pirates 🥵

Coming back to the US is looking less and less appealing, but being here for the Tanzanian Elections was a experience itself

Those are the best Land Cruisers to be in. Forget those hard enclosed ones. The only reason the soft tips were on was because it was pouring a little before this photo. Otherwise it’s just a couple roll bars and wide open.

That was at one of Alex Walkers camps. He and his guide are absolutely top notch. Looks like you found your way around no problem. Beautiful country! Jambo!

A year later and I’m back. I needed a zero mask destination, and no crazy Covid stuff like curfews or forced outdoor dining. There’s a lot more places in the world I want to see but this is fine for now. No big plans- just relaxing

Nice. Been looking at a few options for a trip to Africa in the next few years. Need to put that one one the list.

I was close to doing west Africa this trip, Senegal specifically, but the French thing kinda turned me off, and at the last minute it was confirmed to me masks were still required some places. Tanzania is officially Swahili speaking but English is widely spoken. Heard good things about Rwanda but never been there, many changes since the genocide era.

I hunted in extreme NW Tanzania last year. Right on the Kagera River which separates Tanzania from Uganda and Rwanda. I have never seen such a magnificent part of Africa. Sub-Tropical, mountainous and friendly. If I could get my wife to go to Uganda, I'd go for sigh-seeing in a second.

As to West-Africa, in my opinion, its the most dangerous part of the continent. For some reason, there always seems to be political despots in charge, civil wars, revolution, just bad guys in general. I hunted CAR back in 2012 and felt like I was in danger, all the time.

I agree. Had a few people tell me to try Ghana though, looks good, only downside is I don’t believe it’s visa on arrival, I don’t like dealing with sending my passport in and everything.

Have you done the Okavango Delta in Botswana?

Ended up going out to Paje, Zanzibar for a few days. The whole country is pretty cheap, beers/shots in resorts are 2 dollars, food cheap also. Street food is incredibly cheap, about 20 cents for a chicken skewer, hotels slightly expensive, around 100 per night for a decent room.

Not yet, I usually just hang out in the cities/resorts, but I will make it to the bush one of these trips.

It's a must see. The Deltas photo camps are 5 star and you would be very surprised at the level of luxury.
