Help! New to River Dave’s. My dad has been a member since I was real little. Really trying to track down his boat that he unfortunately had to sell when the economy went bad back in 2008. It’s a Spectra 18 I believe. CA license. 3141 CC. Just want to see where it is if it’s for sale etc. If anyone could help I’d appreciate it! Thank you!

There were a LOT of people who sold things in 2008 who now wish they could get their toys back. I wish you luck, especially for sentimental value.

Okay, I have assembled several 18 Spectras and they did not look like that, but OK

That is really an 18. It has a distinctive look.

The 19 does as well.

Maybe you worked on a 20'? It is similar, but obviously not that same as an 18.

The boat pictured is absolutely an 18. They had a very distinct “stubby” bow. My first boat was a spectra 18. In fact I had to look real close to see if the original boat posted was my old boat.

If you assembled spectra 18s and they didn’t look like that, I’m not sure what you were “assembling”. [emoji6]

That is definately a Spectra 18. I have had mine since 2011, except I have the original engine cover and windshield. The guy I bought mine from contacted me back asking if I wanted to sell it back as well. They are fun little boats.

I know Tracy sold in about 2 years ago. But I left him a facebook message so maybe he has the information of where it went.

That's at least a 20 or 21 ft Spectra
The biggest teltale between a Spectra 20 (didnt make a 21) and the 18 is the very stubby bow on the 18.

Anither example of not reading the entire thread before posting.

Awesome thank you so much. I got in contact with two other river daves members hoping for a reply back from them. Hoping one of them has it or I can get one step closer. Crossing my fingers!

They called the 21 a 20 so you could water ski at Marine Stadium. I don't know if there is still a length limit, but in the 70's you could not have a boat over 20' in Long Beach Marine stadium.

I know its over 20 feet but they called it the Spectra 20. If I'm recalling correctly they made the 18, 19, 20, 24, amd 32.

Yes they called it the 20 because under 21 got some insurance benefit or something like that...same mold as many 21' day cruisers...like Howard 21. Same boat...

My Spectra 20' is 20'10". They never made a "21". Different spashes used different decks to get 21+ out of the hull, or just called it a 21 to differentiate between manufacturers spashes.

Honestly if you are into Spectra's, you could never mistake any of the models for anything than what they are, they are all completely different.

Thank you for posting!

At least the OP knows where it is now, and maybe you could possibly exchange some contact info, so if your daughter ever decided to sell it they could get first option?

Not many Spectra's were made, maybe a couple hundred a year of each size except for the 32's, they are becoming more desirable as they age as well. A legendary boat manufacturer for sure!

Just wanted to reach out to this feed. I know it’s been a long time. But I was able to get the boat back! My dad has it at his house until I can come get it as I’ve moved to the PNW. Thank you Tracy, Bob and Danica for keeping it looking good. I can’t wait to throw my kids off of it and whip them around in tubes just like my dad did to us as kids.
