A gallon of water weighs 8.33 lbs. If the incoming water is 60°F and we want to raise it to 140°F, that is a 80°F rise. Heating a gallon of water thus requires 8.33 x 80 = 667 Btu's, at 100% efficiency

If you think that American carpentry suffers because of the accuracy of a tape measure i know some cabinet makers that would prove that wrong.

The talented person uses the correct level of accuracy for the job, inches or mm are all just arbitrary units. A good craftsman will excel with either.

You're arguing points that have absolutely nothing to do with my statement. I'm discussing units of measurement, not the person using them.

It's not a radical concept to say smaller units of measurement are more precise than larger ones. You prove that every day by using four decimal places.

As for cabinets, it's common for them to be built using metric measurements. Just saying.
