My buddy is thinking of ordering an Aristocraft Torpedo 18. Does anyone know anything about them good or bad? He wants it as a chill cruiser for Lake Arrowhead

I remember back maybe in the 90's they re-introduced a smaller version of this 18, maybe 13 feet or so, a model they built in the 50s. My inlaws lived in Tahoe then and I was really getting into wood boats although never bought one, just enjoyed the history of the builders. At one of the shows on the North shore there was one at the docks, it was beautiful.

I like the look of the Aristocrafts but didn't know they built this 18. If your friend gets one, I'd love to go for a ride, or at least see it in person.

Although they don't resemble each other it reminds me of our first boat back in '61 when I was a kid. All mahogany construction with mahogany skinned plywood for the outer hull. Can't beat that look on the water.
