I was approached recently by a younger guy named Devin telling me about his business called “American Backyard Detailing”.

At first I was thinking it was kind of an odd deal.. Then I started thinking well maybe some of the rich crowd would pay for it….

Well my backyard is lookin kinda “meh” so I called him and told him to come over and give me a quote.

He came over and said it looked to be about five hours of work.. I was thinking an hour or two.. but I said “sure thing buddy go ahead and do it, we agreed on a price (200.00). And I figured we will give it a try.. Any young guy willing to work kinda thing.. I didn’t expect to see a couple hundred bucks worth of results.

I told him he could start around 1:00.

He showed up on time in a work van and pulled out a pressure washer, leaf blower, shop vac, several totes of cleaners etc.. 😳

I was a little taken back to be honest.. I was kinda thinking broom the patio and clean the bbq’s kinda deal. I only took the pic of maybe a 1/4 of the stuff he brought.

I went out there every hour or so, and he cleaned and scrubbed the whole deck. Cleaned the grills, he literally cleaned every cushion on the couch with fabric cleaners.. wiped every chair down.

He started at 1:00 and finished up around 6:30 or so. The whole backyard is organized and clean etc..

I was originally thinking I would never pay for this. The couch looks new, the table and chairs have never looked like that. The deck is pristine.. I am thinking about doing this every month or every other month.

I rarely endorse stuff like this but I was really taken back by the work ethic and the results.

If your busy and want someone to professionally clean your backyard for a party or if it’s just kinda fallen behind I’d definitely give this guy a shout!

It’s a resort/vacation town. Most probably aren’t there full time and rent out their place. When you go out there for the weekend, the last thing you’d want to do is spend 5 hours cleaning the backyard. Wind blowing dirt all over.
I think it’s a great idea. Especially, if you get good results.

Wow, Good for this kid! Way to identify a missing niche and fill it! And hustling!

@RiverDave You better hire this kid for something before he decides to start a boating forum!

Great Idea, I just did this at my backyard last weekend. I fucking hate it! And it lasts for a week or so, then the gardeners come and blow shit all around and back to where we were before! Its an ingenious idea and great hustle!

I was going to tell my Housekeepers to start doing it and charge me more, but its fucking hard work.

You could probably kick that swamper into high gear and just blow your shit over the fence.

Does look nice!

WTF is up with the 10x10 swamp cooler in your backyard!

Insane bro.

It gets hot out here in the summer.. believe it or not Davey at wired for sound gave that to me. I tried to give it back to him a couple times and he wouldn’t take it back. It’s nice it knocks the patio temps down quite a bit.

RD, I don't know how old your kids are but if I were in your shoes I'd let them spruce up the place for the 2 Benjamin's. Then with their earnings I'd teach them how to save and spend the money wisely. That's how we raised our kids and it worked well for all of us...

Damn right it gets hot. I’ve got two of those in stainless steel. One for the garage and one for the patio. They are a god send on peak summer days. I can get the garage cold enough that it feels good to go into the air conditioned house to warm up a bit.

Good deal! Gardeners are sloppy and wouldn't do this, housekeepers don't like to be outside. Win win

Its amazing when anyone posts a time saver on RDP lately half the squad jumps them and tells them thats way too much or do it yourself. How about when I make 250$ an hour and have little free time, its great to pay another YOUNG entrepreneur that money so I can continue cranking on my money machines. This isnt baller problems, this is work smarter problems.

It actually seems like a pretty fair price. He brought his own supplies and he spent over 5 hours. Usually when you higher a cleaner the first time they charge extra for the deep cleaning or the fact that stuff is extra dirty. When they come back its less time consuming. Its probably a 3 hour job the next time.

I can do my front/backyard in under 2 hours but thats not deep cleaning. You certainly don't need to pressure wash every month. Maybe just rotate cleaning one item/area really good every couple weeks. I can see his service being in demand for spring cleaning or prep for a party. I wonder if his price would drop for a regular monthly visit.

I was talking about mine...where'd you get it?
Got ya....Lowes.....they had 12 of them in Cave Creek and have discontinued selling them. It is made by Char Broil under another name. I am sure it is across the board at Lowes....$90. normally $129. I was sure I was going to have to spend $200+ for a new one
