Of course when we are ready to put in sheds they are no longer available, or available for almost double the price, but no inventory in to be bought....

We had planned on buying some precut kits from one of the box stores but they are out, and the item is off their inventory for the future. My guess, supported by that of the store manager, was that the company selling the kits pulled the item, will rename it, and put it back up for double which is close to a grand in difference. Prices are crazy.

I'm not against building everything from scratch, but thought a precut kit would have made things a ton easier and a cool family project.

Anybody out there have any recommendations? We preset paver foundations that are 11' wide by 13' deep. I don't want to have to pull them and reform so anything in the area of 10'-11' by 10'-13' works? Preferred wood barn style but open to suggestions at this point.

Progress little by little. Next we have to level and decide how much grass we put back in.

We bought a tuff shed and loved it . Really held up .
If you have good pics, or the sales flyer of the one you wanted, you can use those to extrapolate the measurements needed. Spend a day cutting your lumber into the "kit", and you're set.
I was actually able to download the instructions with all the measurements. That is always an option, just wondering what else is out there.

New Tuff Shed's out here are 8-12 weeks out... The guy running the dealer out here told my neighbor he has hire more installers and haulers, and the company is running two shifts. Up here, they get used as anything from hunting cabins to goat barns, so repos pop up on the lot too. Neighbor just spent 3k on one of those.

You can build any size you want, but factor in lumber tripled...1/2'' OSB plywood is 30 bucks a sheet with tax.... $1.47 2x4.s are now $5.47...I'm building this out side bar for my son,.. what an eye opener looking at wood prices....and thats gonna carry over to every wood project,,, cabinets are gonna triple...

following these plans, lumber, and hardware list and instructions should be easy. they list some size and feature options as well.

Hahahaha... my one day projects take weeks with or without helpers 😂

I can confirm that my shed took me 1 day. (After I poured the slab and curbs). I wouldn’t believe it if I didn’t see it with my own eyes.

Nope, depends on authority having jurisdiction (but you already know this).

Some areas have restrictions even on sheds, the size, quantity, setbacks etc.

A disgruntled neighbor can turn you in and rock your world.

Best to check local requirements first… just saying.

2FORCEFULL, Awesome patio bar your building there, which will definitely be a fun place to hang-out!

I’ve built a couple tough sheds. I would never buy one. Me personally, I’d draw it up on sketch up and use generate report to make a cut sheet. I’d draw exactly what I wanted and the cut sheet would tell me exactly what material to use. There’s a good live video on sketch ups you tube. I think it’s called garden shed. Explains in detail exactly what I’m talking about

I built mine from scratch. I spent way more than I expected to, but it came EXACTLY how I wanted it to be. Worth every penny.

Get the specs from the city before you start. This way when the neighbors call and whine (like mine did) you'll be totally within your rights. (fucking karen's) I maxed out the height limit, so I have an attic in it as well. All the seasonal crap goes up there.

Keep the finished size of the plywood and siding firmly in mind when laying it all out on paper. The color and roof match my house perfectly too.

My son and I spent a couple of months on it. Good times. 👍

I was refering to the pad is poured, so you can cut the wood to fit,... most areas (NON HOA) you can build 200 sq ft with no permit,...

Built mine from scratch and made the trusses. Easy weekend project. Put Comp shingles on it and painted it to match the house. Gotta tear off those awful shutters though. They are worn the fk out 🤣
Didn’t have a lot of room by the side of the house but it works. Always cleaning the damn thing. I could use one 10x that size

Bought this kit from Lowe’s. 10x16. It’s great. Was way cheaper than a tuff shed. Doesn’t come with floor. I built a floor all the shelving and roofed it. Painted it and ran power to it. Was quite a bit cheaper than a tough shed. But I had to do all the work.

I'm thinking this is the way to go, might be able to find kits that don't reflect the lumber price increase, I paid 150 bucks for 3 sheets of 5/8'' plywood yesterday...

I have plans for an 8*16 lean to shed that I can share with you. You would just need to modify accordingly. I bought them online, basically for the cut sheets.

I built it a weekend with a buddy minus the painting. Then we build the same one at my buddies. They are solid!

Sheds showed up yesterday... Trying to knock one out today. Ended up picking up two from Costco on one of their warehouse sales. 8' x 12" with everything but roofing included. Comes packed in basically what looks like a half full unit of plywood. So far, everything is there and in good condition.

I have several family members that are doing these. My dad had done four in different sizes and shapes. Just hauled in and dropped in place.

So these things showed up yesterday at about 4pm. I unpacked one of them and go the lumber and OSB & paneling a bit organized. Built the floor last night which took about an hour to get in in place and sheeted. 2x4 treated lumber for the base, and it all appears dried and at at least #2 or better. Most of the sticks were pretty clean, some bark areas, but nothing to crazy. These kits are sold as requiring no cuts, just basic hand tools and follow the instructions. So far it's been pretty straight forward. Got the sheeting in place on the roof and figured it was time to shut it down for the night. This one will be mine, then a second identical one will be on the other side of kennel closer to the house. We still need to put in the DG in the sectioned off areas, then figure out what to do with the rest of my dirt.

Shit..... I'm beat down right now. Doesn't matter how "Active" you are daily with working out, running, etc... A day swinging a hammer is a whole other type of abuse.😓

I have one of these in my backyard. It’s okay but definitely not tight. Had a lot of ash on it after these fires.

See, if you all still had them night sticks, you'd be in hammer swinging shape 🤔

Yes sir, coil gun for roofing, framing gun for the sticks. Most new to coil guns shoulders and deltoids hurt from extension holding the gun...

Still going at this. The sheds are in and done. But of course that wasn't the end of it. We just had a patio poured. Next up will be sprinkler system, finish with the trees and tall shrubs against the backwall, sod, then some kind of crushed base for a large parking area in the rear. If we stick around along enough I'll eventually put a large steel shed/work shop back there.

Looking good. Those were $1300 delivered?

Do you know what the door opening is offhand?
Opening is 55 1/2" by 69 1/2". I believe they have gone up a few hundred bucks the last time we saw them in the Costco posting.

Here is the link. They are showing out of stock which is how it was the first time we noticed them too. You have to time it right because as soon as they pop up they sell out fast.

I would really price out the lumber first if you are thinking of doing it yourself. It might be worth waiting the 8-12 weeks for a pre-built one if it comes out cheaper than just the materials to do it yourself. I did a small project in February which I was surprised cost me $250 in wood. I was back at home depot in April and that same project would have cost me $500 in wood. This project was small compared to a shed.

If your goal is to save $$....shop for lumber on OfferUp and other classifieds....lots of leftovers and money savings if you don't mind processing some of your own lumber. I just missed 22 12" long 4x4s for $3 each. I was gonna rip them into 2x4s (or at least close enough...for a shed)...that's probably $500 worth of lumber for $70 and 30 minutes of time.

The second hand market is where it's at. Hell, not just for decent prices....it's the only place to find certain things right now that were common a year ago.

Steel is waaaay cheaper right now…I’m pricing 3-car garages, wood builds/TuffShed (and others) were stupid pricey.
