The only good thing to come out of this shit week thus far, is that Band of Brothers is on HBO.

Goddamn those kids were bad ass!
I'm in awe every time I watch it.

Happy Veterans day.

It's my understanding that there are only two survives left after Bill Wingett passed in Oct of this year.

One of the last remaining members of the Army’s famed Easy Company, which was recounted in the book and TV miniseries “Band of Brothers,” was laid to rest Tuesday in Oregon.

Bill Wingett died earlier this month at an Oregon veterans home in Lebanon at the age of 98.

On Tuesday, he was buried with full military honors at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, according to the Statesman Journal.

During the service, the Oregon National Guard honored the veteran with the folding and presenting of the United States burial flag, a three-volley rifle salute and with the playing of taps, the outlet reported.

A machine gunner in Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne, Wingett took part in one of the most epic battles in military history that came to be known as D-Day.

The 506th was also involved in Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge, the outlet reported.

Wingett received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters during his service in World War II.

I got roped into that on a Saturday and binged. By the time it was over I felt wrecked, physically and emotionally.

Band of Brothers is one of the best things you can watch. Amazing series. America's GREATEST GENERATION for sure.

God bless them all and may they all RIP. I sure hope they don't know what America has turned into - can hearts be broken in heaven?

Band of Brothers is at the top of my warriors list:

Band of Brothers
Saving Private Ryan
Blackhawk Down

This is my recent Band of Brothers Tour Back in March 2020, cut short by Covid-19. I got to spend a weekend in Bastogne, Belgium with my son before high tailing it out of Europe back to the States before we were stranded indefinitely. After Bastogne we had planned to fly to Poland to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau then onto Holland ( Anne Frank’s House and Operation Market Garden). Poland had closed down their borders As we arrived in Belgium and Holland closed down their businesses as well so we bailed after Paris and Bastogne.

Several years ago I visited Normandy and did some Easy Company tours including Brecourt Manor (where they took out the 4 German 88mm’s, St. Marie Dumont (where they parachuted on D-Day), Carentan, and other allied battles.

My son standing in an E-Company foxhole. On the other side of the road was German occupied forest. As you can see, that is freakin close. Pop your head up and you get shot.

I couldn’t imagine how cold it was in Dec/Jan 1945. This picture was mid-March 2020.
