Los Angeles is launching the US' biggest guaranteed income pilot. The scheme will pay $1,000 a month to 3,000 families.

The City of Los Angeles said there would be "no restrictions" on how the 3,000 families on the scheme can spend the $1,000 monthly payments.

Disability. To clarify. California State Disability, SDI, is withdrawn every pay period from a Ca. employees paycheck. If you are injured and cannot work, Ca SDI pays out for one year.

In California. When you apply for Social Security Disability Income, SSDI, the State of Ca. will also be involved in the denials of your SSDI, prior to the denials by the SSA. They are not just giving it away willy nilly. It is a several year process and you'd better have a sharp attorney from the git go.
