Big Pine CA to Death Valley

Anybody done this off road run? Road looks basic, somewhat like Alamo Rd. Any interesting side trails or sights?

A friend has done jeep exploring deep into death valley and said there are several hippee encampments in there with natural springs he didn’t see in research for the trail.

He did say they didn’t feel threatened by the”natives” , but travel accordingly

road should be pretty easy (level 1 rated). Wildflowers MAY be out right now so the vista as you go over the pass MAY be photogenic.
not much after you go through the pass over last chance range. Pass is kind of neat. a mine. Maybe go to the Ubehebe crater as a destination. Probably not going to be lonely this time of year, so safety in numbers as well.

We made this run in a Jeep last week. 4WD is really not necessary. Significant elevation changes. Some great desert scenery. Wildflowers would have made it even better. A bit wash boarded in some areas. Stopped and ate lunch in Ryolite, as we made our way to Pahrump for the night. Good trip.
