Look at this thing. Notice the lack of clutter in rigging. This Flat would be another one of my picks!! Freakin awesome boat.

This Twin Rudder Hydro was pretty unbelievable. I was taking pics of the twin rudder setup, and a lady walks over and says "You know you can get that tape in any color now." :D (smart ass... LOL I loved it) This would be another one that I'd have a hard time imagining how you could do it any better then what they have done.

The amount of crafstmenship that not only goes into the paint, but rigging of these boats is unreal.. When you are taking photos of them it almost gets overwhelming and they all kind of blend together, even though they are all different.

IMG_3123.jpg IMG_3124.jpg IMG_3125.jpg IMG_3126.jpg IMG_3127.jpg IMG_3128.jpg IMG_3129.jpg

I am interested in learning a little more about this little T Lockout handle. it's the smallest one I have seen and it was in a few of the boats at the show.

IMG_3133.JPG IMG_3132.jpg IMG_3131.jpg IMG_3130.jpg IMG_3134.jpg

Thought this was kinda cool how they incorporated the puke tank into the battery box. Not sure why they had blue as an accent color in this boat, I liked the whole block / white / grey / chrome theme they had going.

Ricky At Maxed out is now selling this Hallett 210.. It's pretty bad ass, the tabs / cav plates are electric and have a manual over ride with a pedal. It's a GT special from back in the day, note the recessed fuel fills and a whole bunch of other custom stuff.

IMG_3153.JPG IMG_3152.jpg IMG_3151.jpg IMG_3150.jpg IMG_3149.jpg IMG_3148.jpg IMG_3147.jpg IMG_3146.jpg IMG_3154.jpg

This was supposedly the last Stoker ever made.. Race layup with Kevlar.

I went around a corner and I see Bob Sepulveda from Advantage boats standing there. He had sold a gentlemen this boat a few years back and the guy never used it. When I say never used it, the boat has less then 8 hours on it and looks like it just came out of the factory. I'm not sure what they are asking for it, but I'd imagine it would be 1/2 of what it costs new. If interested call Advantage Boats and ask for Bob

IMG_3159.jpg IMG_3158.jpg IMG_3161.jpg IMG_3160.jpg IMG_3162.jpg IMG_3163.jpg

The owner of this boat is a prick and he just boned me out of 162.50... :D That's ok though I'll still hang out with him because he's got a cool boat.

Scott and Denise's Schiada is just sick.. I have seen the boat a few times before and even did an article on it. I don't care how many times I see it, I can't get over how nice it is. Prime and Scott did an amazing job on the boat.

IMG_3177.jpg IMG_3179.jpg IMG_3181.jpg

This boat ran in the Enduro last year, and Dirk Olsen and Ryan were actually the Title sponsor of the 336. They are getting the boat ready for a race right now and then it will be moth balled until the Enduro again this year.

Pretty cool to see a tranny in a flat.

IMG_3189.jpg IMG_3191.jpg IMG_3190.jpg IMG_3192.jpg IMG_3193.jpg IMG_3194.jpg IMG_3195.jpg

Lots of custom shit in this boat if you look closely. I like the throttle pedal (painted on the inside / chrome on the outside)

Joe's Ski Race Flat (all original) with a Keith Black Injected motor.. Hard to beat this one on the Nostalgic factor.

Awesome man! My boat made the cut. Makes my day. Hopefully the weather holds out tomorrow. Plan on taking her for a run.

Getting down to the last boats I shot at the show.. Have 4 - 5 more to go.

IMG_3220.jpg IMG_3221.jpg IMG_3222.jpg IMG_3223.jpg

I see these old Flats for cheap every now and again.. If I could think of any purpose they would serve me in life I'd buy one. I love the interior in this deal, it's back when things had styling.

IMG_3228.jpg IMG_3227.jpg IMG_3226.jpg IMG_3225.jpg IMG_3224.jpg IMG_3229.jpg

Still one of my all time favorite boats. There's some pretty cool stories that go with it as well. The fathers ashes are actually in a machined container and ride with his son everytime he takes the boat out.

IMG_3231.jpg IMG_3232.jpg IMG_3233.jpg IMG_3234.jpg IMG_3235.jpg IMG_3236.jpg IMG_3237.jpg IMG_3238.jpg IMG_3230.jpg IMG_3239.jpg

I'd love to get a 24 Spectra.. But this price is out of my league by a long shot. (30,000)

Great coverage, these boats are just absolutely amazing. The attention to detail on some of these boats is absolutely insane. Would love to go out next year and see these boats live.

Nice event coverage there RD...see anything this year that wasn't there last year? I mean, you did say that it's the same boats and cars every year...

:D

The only reason I brought my boat out this year was because I added the back seat and the hatch, so it was different from the previous years look. I'm still up in the air about bringing it out to the future shows because I also get tired of seeing the same stuff. I love this show and appreciate the hard work that Billy and everyone else puts into this event!

I shouldn't have to tell you this, but they're just toys Dave. They serve the purpose of supplying fun and that's all. No different than a classic car, offroad vehicle or an RV. Apparently they don't seem fun enough to own in your eyes which is fine and certainly no suprise to me. :D

You're right Carl, Dave has said "same boats every year" and one time on the phone he told me they were all rigged basically the same and weren't very custom which only holds so much weight...:cool

Dave, thanks for showing up, snapping pics and preparing this thread. It's appreciated!!!:thumbup:

...I grew up with these boats which is why,...I suppose that I own four of them???...

... Nothing like skimming across the lake at a high rate of speed just a few inches from the water...

... Never ridden in a big fast boat so I can't compare???...

Hey Willie, just for my curiosity, I get that you can dump all the money in the world in these. But, what would be an amount someone wanting to start out should consider having. Blown motor, boat, etc... Are we looking at 20k, 30k, 80k? Plus something that would be "dependable" Excuse my ignorance.

...Hmmm???,...This is a question more suited to Campbell Carl,...
Sharpshooter or one of the others that really really knows...

...My boats are very lake presentable but not off the hook like what you are seeing pics of in this thread...

Surprisingly they aren't as much money as you would think, given all that goes into them. Flat Bottoms are pretty cheap comparatively. If you spend 30 on a flat, you bought yourself one seriously nice piece of hardware.

Here's some listings..

http://www.dragboatsunlimited.com/boats_for_sale.html

My advice though is ignore the prices, or shave 5 - 10K off of the higher priced ones..

A nostalgic flat like the one that Jerry and I were talking about goes anywhere from 4 - 8K.. Some bad ass Flat, if it's got all the shit and looks the part is mid 20's to maybe low 30's if it's retarded (by Prime or something). A lot of the ones in this thread are sub 20's if they actually had to sell.

There was a blown hallet at the show, guy was asking $16,000. I came very close, but the added in all the legal fees for the divorce and it wasn't goon to be cost effective.

I would appraise the nicest boats in the 35k-60K range although most of them cost much more to get there. That being said, Dave is correct and you can score a lot of boat in the $20,000- $30,000 range. Some of these boats are north of 80K in what the owners have in them but those are few.

A good number of these boats are owned by people who are mechanically proficient and do their own work which helps a lot on cost.

I'd be interested in RCL's answer to this question. :cool

I agree Willie, riding in the bigger performance boats I really missed being close to the water ....just not the same level of excitement for me

And here I thought the only one irritated by my bullshit was Dave?
