Phone rang Friday. RV dealer service dept: "they just ordered the parts." Two months to the day into this.
Then:

Email ding'd in - Half off cost on the cheapest cabin on the Disney Wonder to Cabo.
Half off if you don't care where they put you. But the caveat is:

Sometimes we end up with the very good basic cabin, sometimes they move us up to one of the nice Verandahs.

Either way is fine with us. It's data driven. Previous spenders get the breaks. Cashless ship, they know who you are and what you spend. Wife sleeps 90% of the cruise anyway, I hit the bars.

So we took it, booked a RT Amtrak from Simi Valley to San Diego, pack our bags and headed to the train station.
Tip at this point: Always book the lower Amtrak deck reserve and pay the Business class fare. This will separate you from the shit show bus people. A traveling zoo.

This trip we were sleeping just a few feet above two 16 cyl diesels that needed their crankshafts balanced,, or directly under it,,, within inches.

One 7 day Carnival cruise trip that we booked full price then an email hit. For $500 we could have an additional cabin if we could fill it with 4 adults. Daughter and 3 Sorority sisters gladly took that. Cabins hold 5. All the hard dick drunks bought them drinks.

Depending on the destination some Disney trips the drinking age was 18. That policy changed, dunno what it is now, it varies but it's 18 on the upcoming Hawaii/down under sailing we’re told.

No casinos on Disney ships yet. Iger told our girls “yet” when they encountered him on a past cruise.

He was wearing Speedo’s and wife told me not to post a pick of that on RDs. “It will go viral and we’ll wake up with a bloody horse head under the covers.”

$5 drink Specials every day - every bar:

Stayed at the Guild Hotel, former YMCA nice place:

In the Ships Pub watching the USA kickball game:

Always a your choice $5 Margarita, $5 Bloody Mary or $5 Mimosa or Tropical drink of the day.
$5 Drafts as well. No cheap booze at Disney bars, always name brand booze in the well. Every Disney ship and property. Free pour, no measuring.

Spent the night in San Diego at the former YMCA now the Guild. Nice property.
One block away from the train Depot and the Disney Wonder was dock'd one block away as well. Easy trip.

The rail line along the South coast is under refurbishment & being restored and shored up. So Amtrak busses the train passengers from Irvine to Oceanside and reverse.

That went smoothly heading to San Diego,,, not so smoothly heading back. Enough that we won't do that again until the train runs all the way there and back, no busses.

Getting on the ship used to be a fuck story but this time it went real smooth.
Sitting at one of the little lunch Delis (3 Starbuck BTW) across from the ships dock waiting for our boarding time we witnessed 2 failed attempts to steal peoples luggage.
They'll steal a moms backpack right off her stroller or luggage. Fly by on a E scooter or simply walk or running. many work in two's.

Hold that thought. It's a huge problem. No Leos, no prosecution if they catch the thief's anyway. It's all on you says the Deli employees.

Disney has cut back entertainment and taken money out of the food quality on the Wonder. Very noticable. Staff was embarrassed by it. You could feel their pain in the air. Great food is essential on a cruise and here is where they fail.
Still as friendly a staff and great service as ever.

Adult Zones have 4 nice bars and a few pools/spas with no kids. Fewer kids anyway on Disney ships than we encounter on NCL and Carnival. Probably NCL has better water slides and amusement rides and is half the price of Disney.

Disney WiFi sucked. Legendary bad on Disney ships and expensive. In addition Verizon Mexico roaming ding'd in $20 for 50 MB. Bought it and it didn't work for anyone either.

A plus is when we take the young nieces Disney really puts on the Princess meet and greet and activities to another level. Immersive. Check the girls in and it's an amazing day for them. Takes it to a whole higher level than the park experiences. They haven't cheapened that yet. The girls love it. Even the older daughters bust out their Tiaras and get involved with it.

Morning coffee on the fantail:

Ice drip coffee a BFD. It’s different give it a try. I tip heavy so Double Double Baileys made it into mine. Pastries comp’d too:

Disembarking was fast easy if you are on your game. Roll with express boarding, no extra cost. Be on your game, be quick, save a couple hours disembarking.

24/7 full menu room service no extra cost:

TIP: Remember though room service is full menu and no extra cost be aware there are more free items available not listed on the menu.
Just a few of many: Mickey Bars, Dole Whips, pie of the day and cake of the day and they are no extra cost. All included.

Looks like a great trip, I'm going to have to try a cruise one of these days...

On another note, what's up with the Momentum? You're pretty handy so a two month plus repair cycle sounds serious. Anything I should be watching for on mine?

Was heading into Phoenix looked in the rear view and the upper bedroom slideout was sliding out.
Pushed it back in, secured it.
Needs a new motor and cog plates.
Front jacks problems and brakes acting up.

I have the extended warranty paying for all the repairs they tell us.

Thanks for the write up TPC. I’ve been interested in trying one of the Disney ships here in the near future. Now that I’m semi retired I have the flexibility to travel fairly last minute, and with the perks I’ve retained from being a long time Disney cast member, I can usually get 50-60% off. On a side note, we just took a 7 day cruise in the Caribbean on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. I thought the food was extremely mediocre as was the onboard entertainment. I’m curious if many of the cruise lines have made cuts since Covid that have minimized the cruising experience? It’s been awhile since I’ve been on a ship, but it certainly wasn’t the same as I recall.

Pools and Jacuzzis are closed and netted at 10, decks stay open.

Our kids stay up all night at the river and dunes and cruises too.
Sleepwalking Goofy makes it by and does a funny skit for the kids.
Note the Goofy Slippers;

It's the strangest thing going on a cruise...

Camping? You know the drill, at least a full day putting stuff away.

Boating? Not quite as bad, but definitely work getting everything cleaned and put back in place.

Cruise? Not a damn thing to do after! 🤣

Or during either! It's the most relaxing vacation you'll Ever take!

Honest write up. 👍🏼
