My family (wife and son (20 months)) took off for Lake Powell Thursday the 18th. First stop was to lake havasu to pick up my boat from storage. We then stayed the night and left the next day to page, Az. With a stop in Flagstaff we made it to Page in 5 hours or so from Lake Havasu. The road from Flagstaff to page is not a smooth road and the boat took a beating bouncing all over the place. We paid for pre-boarding Friday night. We checked in at the Waheep marina (stateline) ab out 3 pm to see if our boat was ready, it was not. We went shopping at Walmart and filled up on fuel in town.

once preboarded we decided to have some drinks and start to relax.

none of us slept well knowing we had an early start. We had 3 personal boats and one of which (the x flight) is to go find us a beach. They left at 5 am to go start the looking process. The houseboat left the marina at 11:00 am after needing to get more Fuel, fill the spa, and some engine troubles. (this was just the start of the worst houseboat ever). The scout boat came back right at 11 and told us we were @ mile marker 28. AKA last chance bay. We were all the way in the back 7 miles in.

During our 3 hour boat ride from Waheep to the back of last chance we socialized, drank and drank. I had a really good tune up!. took a few pics along the way. We ended up hooking up after the Castle Rock cut as it was slammed and navigating a 75' boat and two tow boats, it was going to be a challenge.

Can't wait to hear the rest...I've been to Powell once, as a kid...probably 10 or so. Our houseboat had a pair of 40 or 50hp OMC outboards on it, and we brought my Dad's 15' Regatta and a 16' Tahiti outboard. I remember paddling my little inflatable boat down a bunch of canyons and had a blast. Hopefully I'll be able to do it again some time.

Monday we headed up to Escalante River to go explore up there. We left our beach at 7:30 to head the 18 miles to dangling rope to get fuel for the day. After putting in 35 gallons of fuel @ 5.48/gal we were on our way. With no set plans on where to go in Escalante we detoured a few times. Overall from last chance and back we put 120 miles in that day.

fireworks 1st day. In total we had over 300 mortars and

bunch of smaller ones. We had enough to rival a small city.

Awesome and thanks for sharing, been 44 short years since I was there last  Although it appears now with much lower water levels, there's far more available locations for houseboat beaching. You must have a great cell signal to be posting from camp.

Not meaning to hijack, just to help those who haven’t been to Powell, or their trip was cancelled, here are a few from our trip last weekend. We day tripped out of Wahweep, saw some nice boats, talked with the cool people in this sweet Essex. I hope the guy in his new to him 2010 Rage with the 525 with only 20hr gets it running correctly, damn nice boat. My son had a slip and got a few stitches, watch those sharp edges on the grates on the side of the ramp!

ok guys sorry for the delay, things have been crazy at work!!'

we did a day to Rainbow bridge and it happened to be the hottest day during our stay. it was about 103-105 on the water and hotter even off the water. We took off from our camp about 9:30 am and arrived to the channel about 11:00 am after a stop for more fuel at dangling rope marina and some more ice. For me another $175 in fuel spent LOL. The channel is a good one to cruise back and see what lake Powell is all about. (word of caution, it gets very rough in the channel). The docks were damn near full and we were able to squeeze in and not take the "tour boat only parking" spots.
Now this "hike" is about 1 mile one way. its all uphill on the way up and seems to be uphill on the way back too. My advice wear good sandals or bring shoes. The trail is improved but still nonetheless. Also bring a small backpack with water and plenty of it for the group. I brought 6 waters for my wife, son and I and damn near ran out on our hike. My wife says its not worth it, but being one of the 7 natural wonders of the world it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see.

After leaving Rainbow Bridge we headed out to the main channel and rafted up for lunch. After getting tossed around for a bit and the clouds getting darker we started our journey back to Last Chance to secure the houseboat. We stopped in Rock Creek Bay for the stop in the cave at the water line. This was very cool and big enough to park a boat in. Crazy to think how this was formed. We were all still very hot and sunburned from our hike so this was a nice place to cool off in the shade but still in warmish water.

Hey @Bpracing1127 I was curious if you guys brought all your food with you or did you buy it all in Page at the Walmart? We are leaving for a houseboat trip on Powell in a few days and we have been hearing that the Walmart their has been picked over so we are debating if we need to bring food with us instead of shopping in Page like we always do.

@SW_GLASS we brought all the drinks and meat with us. We bought fresh produce dairy items. and last min things. It was not fully stocked but fresh produce and dairy were in good shape. Boxed and bagged goods were somewhat picked over, but we were able to get what we wanted. Meat was picked over and not much there
