If I heard right the security guard shot him but he had armor on and in turn the suspect killed the guard. Heard the press conference at my moms and it was noisy so I am not 100% if I heard that all correctly.

Now, according to his manifesto, he researched this stuff. Level 3A armor is not needed at all for what his stated threats were.
