Do you know if they steamed the wood or was it just man handled into the jig?
Beautiful boat by the way.

For sure it was man handled . Cool pix Carl.:thumbsup
No question to get it into shape originally it's man handled, but a lot of times people will saturate wood with water and then it will help to retain the shape.. Then it is dried out and stays.
This is how they make curved banisters on stair cases etc.. It's not like they found a 30' wide tree and got one banister out of it.

Your project looks great. How about some dates? How long did the hull build take? Who owns the jig?
I built wood decks on the 18' fiberglas Campbell in the mid '60s.

On radius stair rail it's usually strip laminated. If you take a close look at it you'll see it's not one piece.Steaming might make it more flexable, but wood has memory and it will return to it's original shape or close to it.

I kinda of figured you might know something about her. Not sure who 42 Johnny is but she is sitting out front of this place.
