My aunt gave me this pic a few weeks ago, I'd never seen it and most of our pics from that era were lost when my moms house burnt down.

This was at the Sportmans trailer park, I don't know what it's called now, and we'd rent a little cabin there until we got our trailer. My 2 cousins and I, I'm leaning on my folks brand new '64 Impala wagon (I still have the 327 out of it) and our boat. We use to tow with my moms '61 Falcon with no AC so the wagon was a big step up.
I was 8, my cousins 5 and 3.

that boat has some nice lines, is it wood ? if you could find one, it would be a cool classic cruiser with a modern O/B tacked on the back.

Sportsmans park, was it just below Davis Dam on the Nv side?

The launch at the Riverside is called Sportsmans park now.

I've had my boat at what's left of the launch ramp, just below the dam.

Did the flood of '83 destroy the campground?

No, Sportmans was on the AZ side maybe 2 or 3 trailer parks above Wagon Wheel. There was nothing on the NV side except for Don Laughlin's very small casino/restaurant.

Yes it was all mahogany plywood built here local in Long Beach by a fireman. He built 12, if I remember right, and this was the last one. About 20 years ago I bought 2 sets of plans from Glen L, one an outboard that is about 75% the same as our old boat and the other a flat v-drive that had many of the same features. I combined them both after I figured out the offsets and came up some plans that are 99% our old boat. Always wanted to build one (or get a 16 ft glass flat bottom and put a wood deck on it like a Stevens or Rayson) but I'm not sure I'm still up for a project like that now. My plan was to get a later V4 'rude and then adapt the vintage cowling to the power head.

The boats were called "Catalina Conquest" as the fireman and his buddies would race the ski race to the island the back in the day.

It's still my all time favorite boat.

Found a few pics from Easter '63. Looks like moms Falcon was a '62 and not a '61 like I thought. I don't remember much about those early trips towing the boat with that car but the poor thing had to have it's tongue hanging out.
