As they park a few of them in Winslow across from our terminal, i see and ponder all the time. “Why can’t they release these birds right away on these fires” to me it just seems if they sent the birds ASAP they could defeat 99% of the fires annually immediately. Really makes no sense to my pee brain that they wait till the fire is raging and essentially out of control before sending the birds in.

He's still at it at 10:30 am

The DC10 tanker took about an hour from initial report to get to Cave Creek. I guess there is room for improvement but to light that DC10 up from its position stationed on the tarmac and get it here in 60 minutes including flight time isn't all too bad.

That's how fucked up our government is in prioritizing funds, there should be 5 for each wildfire state.
