Bypass 454/7.4L fuel pump/raw water pump

Okay, so I have a 454 with the fuel pump that stands off the block and is attached to the impeller/raw water pump. Anyway it went out last year replaced it and it burned it up again this last week. That's a quality control story for another thread.

Point is has anyone blocked off the fuel pump gone with an electric fuel pump?

If so could I see pictures And a list of parts?

By doing this would I still have to change the oil in the housing?

This is a very expensive fix, if the front seal goes and you have to replace everything.

Carb or EFI? Mercruiser im assuming...pics help too. what engine/ horsepower? in the short of it yes you can go electric the questions i ask dictate which pump set up.
