What the hell’s wrong with these politicians in CA? Sure seems they want to keep pushing out small business.

now pushing legislation for a 32hr work week and being paid for 40.

It’s probably how they classify things. I bet they were losing millions from people working less than 40 hours a week and qualifying for benefits. Now that number drops to 32 they no longer qualify for those benefits.

Didn't think about that, but makes sense

This has an angle written all over it, but if on the ballot idiots will vote for it and more companies will move out of state. Only jobs left will be hourly jobs, no corporate jobs will survive. In today’s environment anyone working over 34hr a week qualifies for benefits at most larger companies. If this passes, that would drops to 28.

Dems are always working an angle. This would result in more companies stopping healthcare benefits (cost would go way up), and forcing more folks to Obama care. Thus socialist healthcare in CA.

That’s like Wednesday mid morning for us self employed folks!

that only works if YOU are the only employee. I have 15 so I loose 8hrs of work now and either pay ot to make it 40 or higher more people to get the same work done?

Most of my hr people make OT as I rather give them more money than higher more people and deal with personal BS

Things can’t move fast enough for us relocating.

You know the hr people will vote this in if it makes it to the ballot.

All the Manufacturing Companies remaining in California would be forced to leave if there manpower costs jump 20%. Additionally you would also have to increase your workforce an additional 20% to maintain output. Essentially this would increase labor costs by 40%. Nobody can take that kind of a hit and survive! Who thinks of these retarded laws?

Common core math:
Reduce workdays by 20%
Give everyone a 20% raise
Watch as more shit gets done!

You realize this is in Congress, right? It’s not going to go anywhere, but if it did, it would be a nationwide standard.

Why and how did a faction with ideals that will dismantle our country’s greatness end up getting in office?

Ask the people in Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris and Jurupa Valley.

They voted in this guy, the first openly gay Asian in Congress.

Don’t be surprised if they try to pass this bs under the guise of reconciliation. They have the votes 😱.

In reality what somebody should try to write legislation on is changing the standard workweek from 5 Days x 8 Hours to 4 Days x 9 Hours with no change in hourly pay rate. There has been studies done on this that actually show increased productivity over a standard 5 Day Week. It would save companies approx 5% on payroll, allow employees an additional 52 days per year to spend with there families, and reduce carbon emissions by taking cars and factories offline for 52 days yearly. It’s a Win / Win for everybody except the government so it will never happen, lol 😂

no, you get to pay them for 40 and hope they work 26 out of those 32. Then when you fire them you get hit again.

I push 10 hour days and 4 days a week on our construction projects when possible.
Saves 1 day of set up and clean up.
Gives guys 3 day weekends
It works for production, we get more done in a 40 hour week

Our shop is on 4/10’s and has been for many years, but the office comes in 5 days

Still had to get permission from the state to move to 4/10’s with a secret ballet and had to have majority in favor or it wouldn’t happen, but it past. Then when we need to get things out, OT is on Friday.

if that's the case I might have to get a full time job.

Straight from the toolbag. Highly doubtful anyone would consider a hiring w/ the complete absence of a work ethic. That interview would be Pay Per View material.🖕 U

If it’s not paid for 40 it’s just 32 and considered “full time” anything over 32 would be overtime. It still screws over the minimum wage and hourly workers if the employers choose to not schedule overtime. Screws the employers because of the increased workers comp and overhead if they hire more people to do the same work.

Takano is an out of touch asshole. I met him personally when lobbying for increased veterans benefits and he tried to say Republicans don’t support veterans and they would never back our requests but Democrats love the military and always vote to increase veteran funding. Typical lying politician.

The way i understand works comp is it's calculated by the yearly payroll amount plus any mod rate infractions you might have.... Not an expert at it and let others handle it really.....

So if what you say is right, just 32 hrs with the same pay (ie $20 hr) then I need to hire temp works just for the last 8hrs to make it a 40 hr week not carrying who worked what hrs , then my workers comp will stay the same....

I don't think this A hole is planning for that and wants the workers to be paid in full for only 32hrs. $20 rate x 40hr week= $800 New rule $25 rate x 32hr week=800. This is how I understood it... Could be 100% wrong....

When two days of sick pay per year became CA law, I reduced our paid vacation by two days per year. Problem solved.

Employees still get the same amount of paid time off only difference is to get sick pay they now can call in last minute and still get paid for missing a day but to get vacay pay they need to submit a request to HR 30 days prior.

Pretty sure that is what he thinks is going to happen. I thought there was a step in price based on number of employees but I could have misunderstood it. Also that could only be for full time employees so part time wouldn’t affect it either. I sure don’t see it as job creating actions though. 4x10’s were the best when I was an hourly. We were all happy and the company got way more productivity.

Honestly 8 hours in contruction sucks! As soon as you get into a grove the day is over. With my last company we did almost all federal work so we got away with 4/10s without OT. Plus a lot of it was out of town work so we saved a day of hotels, and a day of a 3rd party inspector each week. It was great.

I heard a lot of employers did that.... We gave them the 2 more days, but then unions wanted 2 add 2 more to that...... no way...
