California is always on the leading edge of main stream. :O

What if I identify as a windmill? :D

"The California Energy Commission (CEC) recently voted 5-0 to add some new provisions to the state’s building code. Among them is the requirement that as of 2020, all new house and multi-family residences of three stories or fewer, along with all major renovations, must be built with solar panels."

Don't forget to pay your CA taxes for the 6 months you lived here in 2019. lol :D

I always pay my taxes.
I’m sure the <one week of retirement it covers for a former “shovel leaner” will be money well spent.
The best part is that the board of extortion has gotten their last penny from me, and it gave me GREAT pleasure to tear up the jury summons that recently showed up.
I have a traffic citation to pay next week in Barstow, that’ll probably pay for one sack of road patch for the 680.
So enjoy it! It’s the LAST $ your masters will get out of me!

News just reported that the solar panel law will add minimum of 10k to new house price. What a bunch of legislative idiots. They should have just made it mandatory that builders offer it as an optional upgrade if the buyer wants it during construction phase. Most builders probably already offer this as an option anyway. Then there is the whole service of the system question. Are you paying for that separate? Is it included with the panel package? What happens years down the road?

Same thing happened years ago when fire sprinklers were required in new homes. People bitched about it then. Lasted about a year and then everyone thought it was a good idea. Same will happen IF they make them include solar.

I bet your your still bringing your own bags to the grocery store...lol :D

Point is the government run by a bunch of idiots is now requiring it. But of course you missed that. For what it is worth, there is nothing but new housing communities popping up all around my neighborhood. Just about every house has solar. So why the need to spend tons of money to pass some bullshit legislation for something that is already occurring. Hang on to that feel good bullshit.

They also have new legislation on the docket to ban clouds and nighttime so the panels work when you need them.o_O

They better have good rebates if they want people renovating to do it. Its already expensive to remodel and the planning process gets worse every year.

Been awhile, but when I was working for the water district I saw some cities back out of the fire sprinkler requirement, Fontana for one.

And the millions and millions of existing homes whose owners may be middle or low income that can not afford solar and rely on current power providers like Edison? The power companies are already hiking their rates with the current voluntary solar purchasing now the state mandates it so guess these poor people will incur more financial hardship due to progressive socialist ignorance and their desire to control every aspect of your life.

More huge socialist government regulations.

Taking away freedom, choice, and essentially stealing money right from the hands of voters. All to support an uneconomically viable product.

I bet many in the house and Senate directly benefit from investments in this sham

Has nothing to do with energy, environment, or saving the planet.

Smart money says it’s all about an additional revenue stream for kickbacks and fleecing right on down the line.

Solyndra ring a bell?

Blind man in a snow storm can see that from a mile away.
Idiots.

Ha ha, I’m already seeing it.

Ha Ha, I’ve paid State income tax in AZ, CO, CA, and a slew of other States simultaneously for years.
In the 18 or so years I lived in CA, I only actually WORKED in CA for MAYBE 12 months in total.

Ha Ha, for years now CA has historically been the least State income tax burden on my returns because I don’t earn there, my total State burden is paid elsewhere, and CA gets a slice from each of those States because not a single employer I’ve had will deal with CA as far as witholdings.
The savings comes from not having to pay their criminal shakedowns.

Cost of living, vehicle Reg, the criminal gas taxes, etc etc with virtually NO return.
You, Rod, and others have your little niches carved out and that’s great for you guys, seriously.
But that doesn’t mean everyone else is wrong.
When I had a second residence years ago in CO for work, and the State of CA determines that I have to pay them the County tax rate difference on my out of State deductible expenses, that’s extortion.

Ask anyone that lives there and works elsewhere.

They are getting the consumers to build their power plants & then buy it back from us for pennies on the dollar. Ingenious!

That being said, I have solar, and am a heavy electricity user, and my bills are basically zero every year. It is a good idea.

You really are a typical progressive socialist with little intelligence to work with. Homes are unaffordable now as stated by every research analyst in the state and the great socialist regime in Sacramento just added another 10k to 15k to the price. Does the home buyer have an option? Nope, this is just another government enforced tax upon California residents. I really wonder which legislatures invested heavily in sun power which is one of the primary solar companies being used in these new builds prior to the initiative being put forth. Probably a little quid pro Joe going on there I'm sure.

You actually bring up an interesting point. Not all homes can actually use solar. Homes by the coast where it is overcast most days of the year. Homes with high trees around the property or homes where the roof angles dont get adequate sunlight during the peak times of day. Wonder how they bypass these issues?

Rooftop Solar is not a economically efficient way to produce electricity. If the State really wanted to have an impact, they could just charge a fee per house and use the fee revenue for a solar field in the desert.

It is more than just solar.

Most new developments must be net zero-energy homes. That means not just solar but dramatically higher building costs to make the house super energy efficient.

But to be fair, that is what they residents and citizens of California voted for. So that is just the cost of doing business in California. One can chose to play or not. But if you get a development past all the hurdles, it is a gold mine for the developer and super high costs of housing for the buyers.

If the citizens choose to make developers and builders even richer at their own cost, so be it. It is their choice.

Indicative of the poor IQ of the average citizen. Ultimately what is causing the downfall of the USA

I don’t think they are low IQ, they just haven’t thought through the downstream effects.

But to your point, first liberals and now Trumpkins. America may be doomed to bigger government, greater government spending, ever increasing deficits and the ever increasing reach of government into our lives, markets and capitalism.

Truly a shame.

Another perfect example from the retarded side. Sorry dipshit, I've researched Solar, have no intention of purchasing a new build, and can figure out the R.O.I. if and when I purchase another home. Unlike you, I don't need the government to spoon feed me.

Who are these people voting in stuff like this and new taxes? I certainly don't know any, no matter what their political affiliation is.

Already did it Francis! ROI is 6 years then zero electric bill! Had it for 3 years and it’s “Spot on”! Don’t know who scammed you. Call Basil Hayden for the “Uninformed Naive Discount”! Now be a good Union boy and do as we say!

Oh I'm sorry. I guess my "Go Fuck Yourself" wasn't clear enough. I don't give two fucks about you or your solar. That is the point you and your handlers can't seem to figure out. If I want to go solar, I don't need you or any other government agency to tell me how. That might be hard for you to understand, but nobody said being stupid was easy.

I'm sorry short bus. Let me try it this way. I've already had a few different Solar Company's out to my place, including Hayden. You see, when you are an actual adult, and not a dumbfuck like yourself, you can do these things without regulation telling you "You Shall".

If my ROI was less than 10 yers, I’d go solar.

But our power is currently so cheap, it’s a 12-14 year ROI and we use a lot of power LOL.
