Hi guys!

I know the original owner of the Campbell "Brown Sugar"! He's a good guy who used to live in Anaheim Hills, CA, and is now living in Lake Havasu. We used to boat with him when he had this boat. I wondered where it went!

As has been suggested, you're welcome and encouraged to get in touch with the Campbell Club in order to BS with other Campbell owners who have your same affliction. If you've been receiving Club emails, then we must have your contact info already. I help maintain the Club's owners' contact list, however, I don't have any info that identifies you as the owner of the former "Brown Sugar", so our contact info on you may be sketchy.

How do you get a hold of the Campbell Club?

I have to admit, I'd like to know who is doing the regel's on a lot of these campbells. During the regatta when we were pulling off the water a lot of these boats looked better then some of the new boats coming out of the molds today!

Hi RD,

Our Campbell website is: campbellboatowners.org and to reach the webmaster with any comments/questions or to get in touch with any of us, the email address of our club is: [email protected]

Almost all of us owners know each other; many friendships go back decades! It has taken some of our newest members to drag us into the twentieth century and get us hooked up on websites and now the RD Forum. We've been phoning and emailing info among ourselves on all sorts of Campbell boat projects, tips, fixes, etc. for years, but new owners were unintentionally left out of the loop because us oldsters were not aware of them. Thanks to you and Rickybobby for the forum; it appears new and heretofore unknown (to most of us) Campbell owners are now popping up routinely!

Regarding the regels, Rickybobby has written an article chronicling his particular odyssey concerning his regel project, and it will soon be posted on the Campbell website. (Our webmaster tries to issue something new roughly each month)

Thanks for the compliment RB on the motor. I'm doing a few things over the winter to the ol girl. Removing the bow rail, and adding some seats..and having gauges made withe the Campbell logo on them.. White walls with chrome and orange smoothies on the trailer ..... And sending out the prop shaft , skeggs , rudder and prop to be chromed and picking up a polished prop..I'll repost some motor pics tomorrow .your boat is very nice ... And RB I can't wait to see your ride out on the water this summer.we need to plan some trips out befor the regatta next summer

Everytime I look at your motor I start droolin, its just the right combination of color and shining parts. I am getting close to dropping mine in and can not wait. I am looking around for an air filter housing that would match the MT valve covers????? Not sure what I am going to go with yet. This weekend the plan is to get the plumbing done for the fuel system, water system, and oil, then she should be ready for the motor!!!!!

I'm guessing mine is light because of the lack of seating lol.. can't wait to see yours done.. hurry up.. I'm not going to hear you say it will be ready for the regatta ..it better be done much sooner!!!?.

Ya ' know i hate to admit it but i have no idea what gears are in her? my biggest prob right now is that I'm used to a 97mph twin engine big v bottom , so the old girls not fast enough yet, i just get the motor done in time for the regatta this past summer , and that was her first and only trip out with the new power, and now I'm planing on taken her in to get another 100 hp out of her .. I'm sick in the head? post some pics PB and RB!!

That's a big change going from your twin V to a campbell. No, you are not sick hahah I think many of us are always trying or wanting to go faster!!! When you get done removing your bow rail post some new pics of her. When we were at the regatta you had a buddy with you, is he gonna get a campbell? I know he was asking some questions about building a new one. Any word on him joining the campbell family?

Hard to believe that there is a couple of days worth of work right there but I now have a new respect for the veteran riggers, this stuff is time consuming !!!!!

Oil lines and fittings all done except for the ones into the motor!!!!! Cooling water lines out of the heat ex-changer are proving to be a challenge (big change in the size of line, arrrrgggggghhhhhh). Waiting on the new fuel line fittings and I should be able to drop the motor in and start wiring her up!!!!

Did I mention how much I hate polishing rub rail !!!!!! Major pain the the ass !!!!!!

Looks good, but how come you didn't put seacocks on the thru-hulls?

I did not install seacocks for a couple of reasons, I am sure some here may disagree and thats ok, but this is my second "inboard" and have yet to need or use a seacock in either boat. She will not stay in the water more than a couple of days at most and would rarely be out of sight of land in the event of a line failure, should I need to beach her. Multiple bilge pumps wired to a float and hot all the time (another huge topic of disagreement!!!!) and lastly, there is almost no room in my hull for a seacock plumped straight off the inlet thru hull, so I am going sans the seacock. Thanks for question.

Carl
lol, while it might be a little overkill on the heat exchanger, future plans call for a little more power to push this tug through the water so I decided to set up for it now. I got a deal on the bigger oil pan and exchanger and have had fun trying to figure out how to "plumb" everything. The oil pan will have a sensor in it with a temp gauge on the dash, and I will be able to adjust the flow of water through the exchanger to hopefully dial in the oil temp I want. Standby for operational results!!!!!!

Been busy reworking the windows in the cabin (what a major pain the ass !!!) but i really like how nice they have turned out, if I can just get the install the way I want it, I will be good. A local hot rod glass shop hooked me up with the window channel felt, looks better than new !!!! Full spread when I get some days off !!!!

Thanks guys for the concern, I appreciate the look out !!! but it appears much worse in the pic than it was, mostly mud at the water level as lake keeps dropping !!! we did have a safety line out to keep her from drifting into the big stuff !! there is no more "shallows" so we were trying to find a protected place to fire up the Q !!! worked out great, had the cove to ourselves, even got a nap in!!!!!:):):):):):)

met up with a guy in a beautiful blue and white biesemeyer campbell (with an LS6) who had never heard of RDP (I thought everyone knew about this place????).... anyway I hope they guy shows up here, he sounded interested and seemed like he would fit right in !!! lol !!!!

My dad and I built that Biesemeyer from a bare hull back in the 80's. It started with a big pro gas flat engine in it then dad bought that LS6 engine from chevy. I'm pretty sure this is the guy that bought it from us in the early 90's. Loved that boat!

It sounds like your old boat, his name was rick or rich, local guy (???) said he owned it since the 90's??? He just recently went through it, with new gel, interior and upgrades on the motor. Hope he shows up here someday, nice guy.

A little update to this thread. After two years of running her after the restoration and chasing some minor motor gremlins, its time to repower. Tore the interior out yesterday and hope to have the engine and torn down next weekend?? I will update as work progresses. Nothin crazy on the build, need to see how good or bad the block is before we go to far.
