I've been building a CanAm for the past few months in my spare time, thought i'd share some of the progress. This will be a 2900 car for BITD.

Your car looks Awesome! You have a ton of talent!

How much time do you think you have in it to the last pic? Did you do your own suspension arms? I am in aw of people who can just spit out quality work like that.
Keep us posted!

Blue tape saves tubing!

Thank you, I would guess I have about 70-80 hours in it at this point. It took 2 nights just to tear it down, before I even started cutting tubing off. It's pretty amazing how well these work in stock form, considering they are held together by paper thin tubing and rivets. So many rivets. I didn't include a picture, but I cut the entire center out of the car to replace the tubing with 4130. I think this will be a safe car for a long time. The control arms are made by HCR. Really nice pieces. I'm building this for a customer, so it made sense to purchase the arms, since I couldn't build them for the 4500.00 they cost.
Expecting the radiator, clutches, diff and other parts soon, i'll keep updating as things get done.

Made some headway this last week and today, got the clutches installed, and the quick release clutch cover kit set up. The rear cage and spare tire area leaves room for a jack and spare axles/tie rod/rear link.

Are you moving the radiator to the back of the car? If not, you'll need to move the lights from the front bumper. I have a similar setup and my 2019 got really hot the last time I went to Cal City. It was only 85* outside, but we were almost wide open for several miles. The temp gauge had all the bars showing, which has never happened before.

I have two individual lights in my bumper and had to turn one of them sideways, which solved the overheat problem. With your light setup in the front bumper, you won't be able to turn them.

Funny you mention this. We run a four seater in the norra race every year, and day one in el Diablo, the car kept running hot. We pulled the lights off at the end of the stage, and all was good.

I just paid a local fabricator to weld some light tabs on the sides of the bumper and grind off the tabs in the middle. I doesn't look as good, but I don't want to worry about the car getting hot.

I spent almost $500 on the two lights, so leaving them off wasn't an option.

I finished this car in June 2018-it was built for a customer. Here are a few pics of how it left.
