A true Honky Tonk
Beautiful women too.
Trump supporters only.
Cowboys and fine women and foreign tourists.
This place is a fucking gem.

Wife wouldn’t let me buy the black velvet blanket with a day glow painting of Elvis taking Jesus place at the last supper.

Good food at good prices can be found. Check reviews first

We tried stabbing Westward to trail heads that started in Williams neighborhoods.
Residents have understandably blocked off the access to stop the OHV traffic.

Nice sleepy neighborhoods can’t blame them.

Wife as usual canvassed the town getting OHV trail and points of interest info and was successful.

So we found other points of entry to other trails.
Rolling at the 15 MPH speed limit and full stops at the signs in town the Leo’s will pretty much leave you alone. You’re heading to or from getting gas should always be your answer if you get rolled. Hold that thought.

Amazing the amount of Europeans in Williams soaking up the Americana. Rented Harley’s and US rock music played / sung in their native language we found all over the joints in town this trip. It works.

They drop some serious bank.
Two large Lobster tails and a short pour glass of Beringer for $45 is super cheap to them even before you figure their favorable exchange rate. Hell that’s cheap to us.

$2.79 a US gallon for 87? We have it made.
Diesel is a dollar a gallon cheaper at stations a block away from the I40. 40 gallons arriving and and another 40 gallons leaving that $80 is a nice savings.

We never, ever buy tourist junk but this time found a few cool quality things amongst the rubber shrunken heads and pirate flags. Everything we like is $30.

Williams is seriously restoring the town. Some spots classic Arizona with character some they over did it, some they messed it all up.

Some places like the bars are best left alone and they’ve done that and the locals are good with it they tell us.
Meeting the locals in the bars with their native wit and savvy takes is the best part. Friendly and fun.

We towed along Hi 89 North to the I40 in route here.
From Gun site Canyon North the 4 lane expansion construction is underway.
A BFD.

It’s 39f outside and those extra insulation claims by our TH’s mfg must be true. A ceramic heater is holding down the comfort. Main heater hasn’t come on yet.
Saving a little propane.

Starbucks in town wanted 40 cents more for creamer in your coffee.
Safeway bakery goods were all stale and moldy.

3D relief Motorized Trail maps at many trail Junctions. We carry a $2 Harbor Freight magnifying glass. I recommend it.
We rolled by the Williams USF Ranger station and they had the maps and other excellent trail info available.

Williams OHV trails are as good as they get.
USF Ranger Station was really helpful.

Googling the trail system didn’t bring up any of what we’ve discovered in person.
We had the same experience in Sturgis SD.

Perfect weather the entire trip.

Havalinas are starting to be an aggressive nuisance the Rangers told us. “If they are hungry they may pose a problem. Havalinas are smart, they bite and have sharp tusks, sometimes run in rat packs, are fast and lots of them and not shy of humans” we’re told.
Carry heat handy.

I used to watch the old B&W Bill Burred travel logs on Ch 13 when I was a little kid. Havalina attacks were solved with a mad blast from a Thompson.

Wife wanted to visit Bearazona. A drive thru safari park with a walk thru section too.
Not bad. They’ve put some bank into it and are returning even more money to keep plussing it up.
Nice, clean place.

Bear was cueing up to jump and ride on our hood so I kicked the truck in the ass as instructed by the entrance employee. They said Wolfs will too but not this time with us.

Best visited at opening hours.

So now we awaken to our last day of our 5 week RV and trail exploration vacation.
It’s been a good run.

Surprises were how helpful and Off Highway, motorized vehicle friendly US Forestry Rangers and Districts offices have been towards the sport. Trails under their jurisdiction have all been first rate.

We liked this trip so much we’ll plan something similar next year in another Southwest area.

No mechanical breakdowns, the new RV excellent, only a minor encounter with a tourist trap attitude and the weather has been perfect.
Can’t get any better than that.

Thanks for all the likes, much appreciated.
