So I recently ordered my new F250 and want to upgrade suspension immeadietly. I know CJC is slammed I think until June maybe July by now. Not sure if I want to wait so looking for an alternative shop for install at same quality as CJC install.

my second question would be is there a big difference between the fox and king pintop system. I plan on adding radius arms, torsion sway bar, progressive leaf springs, long travel air bags, and both upper and lower steering stabilizers. Plan on going with the 5.5” kit which is the 4.5” for 19 and older F250s. All thisIs pretty pricey, just wondering if it’s worth saving between the fox/king kits.

probably going with a 17 or 18” rim on 37’ rather than a 20” rim for ride quality
Thx

Are you planning to hit the Baja 1000 with it or 2021 SEMA? Cause everything you mentioned is literally just for looks.. you might get a hair of a smoother ride, but unless you’re wheeling that thing...[emoji2369]

So their Fox Backcountry shocks are a 2” shock.

The King pintops are a 2.5” shock. And they have clickers so there’s additional valving done in the reservoir itself.

Much better damping, much better ride, much more bottom-out resistance with the Kings.

IMHO 2” shocks are borderline for heavy trucks. Even Jeeps and Tacomas come with 2.5” shocks when equipped with the premium factory off-road packages.

Ford puts 3” Fox shocks on the current Raptor, while the TRX uses 2.5”

Sage used my 07 to evaluate valving when he was developing their 2.0 shock packages. The ride difference between a 2” and 2.5” shock on a 2500 truck with large tires is pretty noticeable.

The improvement in ride between a 2.5 and 3.0 is a bit less significant but the 3.0’s are definitely even smoother.

I'm doing the 2.5/3.5 commuter with front sway bar on my 21 F350. I need it to tow so cant do the 4.5. You're gonna catch shit from the "leave it stock" crowd but the smaller lift set up on 37's makes the truck much more drivable and compliant over dips, bumps and what not. I'll start with the std fox shocks and probably upgrade to the kings later. We will see.

only reason my F350 is still stock = paying for my kids college education - 2 years left on the loans for the oldest and 2 years of paying cash for the younger one.

wife has agreed that when new tires are needed that I can upgrade as needed :). Problem is all the wheels I want in 20’s are out of stock.

I’m not going to run the Baja, but definitely want to play with it. My brother in law just put the commuter 2.5 on and wished he had at least upgraded to res shock. Definitely a nicer ride on the road but guessing not much off-road. I was thinking I can probably do without radios arms to get price down , heard sway and progressive leafs springs help a lot with ride

You’ll notice the radius arms more after you upgrade everything else you listed [emoji106]

Don’t forget tire psi...that makes a huge difference for small bump compliance [emoji106]

I’ve got a pin top package on my ram with deavers. If I could sell the kings I would go down to the commuter as it’s a daily driver on hwy 99. I don’t pull a race trailer anymore and the only off-road it sees is checking water on the ranch at idle. But, I’ve hit some nasty shit unintentionally and the king performance really opened my eyes. Almost made me actually want to do some wheeling but remembered I have to drive 40 minutes each way for work. Best improvement I saw was pulling our race trailer, or the Schiada with a full bed.

We just finished a pintop kit for @Roaddawg on Wednesday on his new Ram. I have a 5.5” kit on order for an F250 with the progressive springs for a buddy, but we’ve been waiting for 3 months for it to come in.

My shop is in OC in Anaheim and I’d be happy to talk to you about the install. CJC has been sending us some of their customers that are looking to do it sooner.

I have this kit on my 17' F-250 and like the ride with 35's on 17's (f**k the 20's) and just over 52k miles almost all towing, adding another 3k this week.
I too was going up on the shocks but the Fox 2.o's are fine and I totally forgot about upgrading, maybe if they start leaking then I'll upgrade.
To add my Nitto Ridge Grappler's will have over 55k miles on them by the end of the week and still have plenty of tread left. 😁

What up WIDGE. I did 3.5 with FOX commuter and 35s. Definitely do 4.5 and 37s. Just do fox for shocks.

You will love either set up. I bought CJC’s last shop truck and it rides really nice with just the fox 2.5 pintop set up. If you can afford to do the kings, then do it. If you order all of the parts it’s not to hard to install. Also one of the main guys at CJC does side jobs after hours. Also I have a friend who can do it.

Here’s a pick of my 21 f350 brand new stock hooked up to my genesis gs34 also stock height. Major sag. I bought bags for it that came this morning to install today. I also have the pin at the trailer at full low & Reece signature slider at full low. On the trailer I’ll be able to put the pin 2inches up to even things out if needed. So you can see the 3.5 inches of suspension lift & 1.5 with tires will put the truck at the perfect spot.

Does a long bed squat more than the standard or is it the same.

Not sure since I have a short bed but I’m guessing the lb might be a little less based on the longer wheel base. I think Ford put softer springs in these truck to make them ride better. Air bags fix all of it.

2.5" level on 35x17's. Rides like a dream. I didn't do the work but was told it is a Carli kit and has bilsteins front and rear.

Would love to go a little bigger and on 37's but then it wouldn't fit in the garage and for me, that's just not going to work.

I also just replaced the 4x4 valance with the 2wd one and it looks so much better.

With the 2.5 kings. It runs great!!! I can hit the v ditches by my house at 40 plus in my truck. I can’t even do that in my f150. It’s still a 3/4 ton truck so it does bounce a little on the freeway but isn’t bad at all. I think they are worth the money

I would go with the Kings if the budgets allows, being that it's a 2.5 shock it will ride the best if you plan to off road with it. Kings will however ride a little bit rougher on the street compared to the Fox 2.0.

The street ride is not what I have experienced. I have the Kings and have several friends with the fox's. The Kings to me are better.

My Silverado on MT’s with 2.5” Kings rides as well as my wife’s Suburban on street tires with 2” Fox shocks.

Need input.
My stock 17 F350 DRW, is in need to new shoes.

Going with the following wheels = 20x8.25 / Front +122 & Rear -201 offsets with 285/60 tires. No lift involved, which is what I prefer as I get older.

So what shocks should I upgrade to? Options are limited unless my search skill are off

If you want King's I know of a place that has them in stock, from what I have seen they are about it for inventory.

Here you go LakeMeadBoater hooked it up. 2.5 King pintops with the 3.25 lift as my truck has factory air. I also went with the Deaver rear springs and the radius arms. My truck is a 2020 3500 The wheels are 20's with a 35" tire

my second question would be is there a big difference between the fox and king pintop system.

Thx

The big problem you are going to have is actually getting the stuff to do it. I ordered my kit from CJC at the end of July and finally got everything just before Christmas. I pretty much got the same things as you want minus the upper steering stabilizer.

What kind of price range are we talking for these lifts. Plus installation.

I think the Carli stuff is 3 to 5K. Upgrading shocks prob adds 1k maybe more. I know a set of Kings is 2100. You can do it as good a little cheaper through OUO. Install I don't know.

To answer your question, call Industrial Motoring in Anaheim. They installed the backcountry kit on my buddy's F250 and he's happy. I have a 2016 Ram 3500 and installed Thuren's 2.5 KING kit in my driveway.

I've had both 20s and 17s, and 17s are by far my favorite. PSI also plays a significant part in ride quality. Around town in 40/45. Towing I bump up to 65/65.

SPEND THE MONEY ON THE KINGs. You won't regret it.

Anyone have thoughts on the steering stabilizer for this kit?

Some tires have a natural, radial pull. Let them know what tires you have, and they can setup the stabilizer to counteract the pull.

When I got my kit the guys at CJC recommended the low mount only. May be worth it to call and talk to them about your setup and what you plan on doing with it

They’ll generally recommend which one based on your tires.
High mount can correct for pull to the right.
Low mount can correct pull to the left.

I wouldn’t run both TBH

Call Domestic Diesel and talk to Nate. They will get you taken care of. They are well versed in Carli and ICON stuff.

I have a 17 ram 2500 with the Don Thuren 2 inch coils and his custom valved 2.5 King shocks my truck has factory rear air bags. The truck rides like a half ton. Thuren front sway bar, Thuren pan hard bar and King steering stabilizer. Just recently took the 33’s with the 20x10’s off and went with a 35 and 17x9’s
