Recently got a Samsung S10 and also a new head unit for my boat.

Old setup for boat was connecting mp3 player or old stripped-down cell phone (no services, just using for the music player) via aux input.

New setup for boat is bluetooth, but my phone overheats on boat pretty quickly (even in shade), so I toss it in the cooler. It still connects just fine, however, the head unit doesn't have all the sort & search & playlist functions that the phone has, so I'd prefer to use the phone controls over the head unit controls. Plus the phone is also a nice remote control...

What do you all use for music on your boats? Do you have overheating probs? Do you connect aux/usb or bluetoooth?

If you are steaming music....maybe its overheating cuz your signal is weak for internet.

turn the porn off in the background.
This is half good point. Turn everything off and put the phone into medium battery extender. It will slow it down and close background processes so you save battery and it runs cooler.

this is kinda corect.

when you are far from a tower....the phone is forced to turn its transmitter output all the way up.....max output.....so the tower can "hear" your phone. this causes the phone to get warm. it also chews up the battery.

my guess is you are charging it....running it at max transmit output, and using the Bluetooth transmission at the same time......then its out sitting in the heat.......and that why your phone is getting pissed.

Been runny Sammy's since Galaxy S3. Used Slacker in the old days and Spotify now. I had a S10 prior to my Note 20 Ultra. Never have had heat issues but I run Spotify in Off Line mode so it doesn't need data to play. As mentioned, battery save mode or airplane mode as weak signal can cause phone to run hot.

As for Grads and his fruit phone advice... Apple will be using Samsung to provide their screens for their new fruit phones!

I've seen this problem before and there's an easy solution but follow these instructions carefully...

1. Throw Samsung in garbage

2. Buy an IPhone

3. Problem solved.

My Iphone 12 does the same shit. My older iphones never had this heat problem. I suspect its all the waterproofing and bigger processors now.

I use this app to play the tons of music I have on my phone. Best app I've found so far...

No overheating problems. Currently using the aux cable, but I have a newer blue tooth head unit I'll be installing soon.

Samsung S9 phone. Kenwood head units.

Put the phone in a ziploc bag and throw it in the ice chest on top of everything, it will still play and stay nice and cold :) or just buy an ipod.

Grab a micro SD card. 256mb are around 30 bucks. I use Spotify and have all the music downloaded onto the card. I have well over 1k songs on there.

My last phone using Bluetooth when it was hot would kill the battery. I picked up a cheap Amazon fire tablet for 100 bucks. Threw an SD card into that and download the music on there. I actually prefer using this over my phone.
