If I change from a velvet drive to a turbo 400, do I have to move the motor to get the balance back?

I don't think you will feel any difference. It's much less than having a passenger in the boat.

What size boat and how much power do you have? In most cruiser applications I don't think that would make a difference.

I would think, if anything, it would help to put weigh foward and improve the balance of your boat. Love my TH400!
