Three weeks ago I get a new listing notification from realtor.com on Saturday morning around 10:00 am. It's a 4 bedroom 2 bath home with a big pool cheap. I check it out and I have my wife check it out and we decide to make a run at it. I call Trent from Team RDP and he runs over to the house and gives us a facetime walkthrough of the house. I asked him what he thought and he said it was a steal. We put in a offer that afternoon and our was accepted the next day after having to beat other offers with better term's.

The good.
It's a one owner house that was bought new and well cared for. The house has a new roof, A/C, windows and doors. It has a large pool and a good size backyard. The neighborhood is super quiet, all the utilities are underground and is only 5-6 blocks from Flying X, BJ'S and everything else in Mcculloch.

The bad.
Walking into the house is a time warp back to 1972, when the house was built. Everything is in clean working condition, but it all needs a update to this century. The two car garage is only 23 feet deep and won't fit my boat.

Although the house is furnished and in move in condition, we made the decision to a blitzkrieg remodel and get the house to fit our taste and needs. Our goal is to have everything done for Desert Storm as we will be in Havasu all that week.

The before/listing pictures.

We drove up to Havasu on Wednesday 2/10 to close escrow, get the keys and see the house for the first time in person. We started the as built measure up and came up with an initial game plan. My office manager has a general contracting business and I had him and his partner meet us at the house. Thursday we ran around town and it became very apparent that not only were we going to have bring guys from LA, we were going to have to bring almost everything else also to get this remodel done. All of the kitchen and bath showrooms and big box stores in Havasu gave us 3-4 month lead times minimum with no promises.

By the end of the weekend we had the new house plans done and decided to start last Tuesday after President's day.

Day 5

I drove up to Havasu early Saturday morning and we banged out the garage extension. Old garage was 20x23 and new garage is 20x35, perfect for my Nordic Rage with room to spare.

We moved the patio sliding door into the old window opening which happened to be the identical width.

We finished about 3/4 of the framing of the Jack and Jill bathroom.

Saturday night I was invited to watch supercross at Eddie Lawson's house with King Kenny Robert's. They were hero's of mine growing up and getting to meet and hangout with them was surreal!

Sunday I went on a wild goose chase to the Home Depot in Bullhead, as I needed siding for the garage extension. Internet said it was in stock, I called and was told it was in stock and low and behold they didn't have Jack Shit. Wasted most of Sunday, almost 4hrs down the drain.

Wrapped up some details at the house and headed back home to LA around 5:30.

More to come next Monday after another work weekend for my birthday!

You guys ain’t Messing around , looks good and can’t wait to see finished product. Which at this pace won’t be long ,haha. Do you have to raise that garage door height at all to fit the boat ?

No I don't. The garage door is 7' foot clear and has a 8' foot ceiling. I thought about raising it, but it's not worth it for me right now and would blow out my budget. My boat will fit fine as is.

Nice upgrades. Indian store in Parker was only place that had the siding few trips back but pricey.

I called my salesman at Reno Hardware and he found it and picked it up for me today. Now I'm the hunt for pre-hung solid core door's. This Covid shortage shit is getting old, as no one has stock of the most basic things. Heading to builders surplus tomorrow to blow my wad on kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities.

Hd supply for solid pre hung doors. I text my sales rep today at Anaheim kitchen and bath. He said they are about 95% in stock now on the cabinets. 2 weeks ago they could not put together a whole kitchen. Better prices than builders surplus.

Got a lot done this week. All of the plumbing rough ins are done. Started electrical rough ins and finish. Finished most of the framing and started drywall. Picked out and purchased most of our finish materials and fixture's.

Well I finished 90% of the house the week of Desert Storm. Appliances, countertops and backsplashes were installed end of May and I am finally done. I still have a few odds and ends to take care of, but we have used the house twice in the last few weeks.

My next problem is trying to buy furniture. We are getting quotes from 6-12 weeks for delivery. I have called in a favor and have a family friend interior decorator running all over socal sourcing furniture. I am bringing the first load up this weekend and will finally get to use the house without sleeping on the floor 😂.
