I had the boat done this spring before I took it my trip around the country boating. It sure is nice to wipe down since I've had it done.

However, its not as fresh as it was right after it was finished and I was going to have my boat "detailed". I assume I shouldn't have it waxed after only being coating for 5/6 months? I have a few spots that have light rub marks form the fenders I'd like to get polished out and a few other little things I'd like cleaned up. How do I deal with these ares?

While I was happy with the coating, I used somebody who isn't my normal wash and wax guy because he didn't do ceramic. I will be having my usually guy do this latest work and was wondering how to direct him on what to do.

Thoughts?

Thx

Contact who installed the ceramic. I used a maintenance wash soap when I wash my boats cars and rv that have been coated, installer gave us a jug of the stuff.

Yup. Mine came with bottomless jug of cleaner/sauce too.

I've used "sauce" but the issue is the fenders rubbed and left some marks that won't come off with a "sauce".

In my mind - I'd usually just get some wax out and buff it out. But I'm not sure how it will effect the coating?

I don't want to end up with the look of a car that had some touch up paint sprayed on the side because the finishes looks different.

Shine supply has a coating maintenance kit. You want a light polish like slick back and load up with some clutch to boost the hydrophobic properties of the coating.

Depending on the defects you could use wake up, https://shinesupply.com/collections/marine-products/products/wake-up-16oz or click back. I wouldn't worry about the cherry silica on the boat, but by all means if you want to. I would just load up on the clutch and apply punch it, or ignition, every once in awhile after you clean it with sauce.

Call the shop that did the ceramic and get answers.
then call Chris at Detail Specialists or Bob Moses Ceramic and discuss options.

I have always wondered how do you really know how long it will last. I hear the sales pitch but have never seen test results by I recognized lad.

Of course I could call the person who put it on...

But I thought I’d get a few opinions before talking to the people that usually take care of my boat.😊

If you use any compound on the boat to get out scratches, the ceramic coat in that area is compromised or gone. I'd just get the product they used to do your boat and reapply it yourself..

Well after having a laugh with a few people that made money from peddling ceramic coating services... I won't ever do it.

Lol I count at least 7 more products they are trying to sell in the maintenance of their ceramic - brilliant!

God bless you guys chasing this bullshit.

Shift is a soap, ignition or punch it can be used interchangeably on a clean surface. I don't ever use throttle. I use ignition or punch it instead. A polish and clutch. Thats 4 items. 2 on a regular basis and 2 yearly?
Smooth move is for coated or non coated. It pulls iron contaminants. Bringing total for me to 5. 3 once a year.

But I get it, seems obsessive. But, I enjoy it. 🤷‍♂️

Depends on how you take care of your boat or car. I am a firm believer of two years on a boat is about as long as it will continue to do its job. I am pretty on top of my boat and I am that guy at sandbar wiping down my boat but find after year one, I am having to use Hot Sauce to clean certain areas of the boat, usually around the win step. I also have a boat with dark red areas that show hard water spots up close. Water line I would say you get about a year. On cars, depends on how does the vehicle live its life?

Ceramic makes life so easy when you wipe the boat down. Only test results I have is personal experience and like I said, pretty particular about my vehicles. I can tell you verses traditional waxes, it is a way better option.

Ceramic coatings hold up very well to chemicals. They wear off with abrasives such as buffing compounds and polishing.

How do you know it holds up better than wax? Today you can see a 5 year old car that sits outside that has veer been waxed still looks good. Clear coats have gotten a lot better. Do they wax or ceramic a 50ft yach?

Because we sell coatings and waxes. We have been around them both a long time. Lots of testing. Wax will still make things protected and shine. They just wear off quicker. Ease of maintenance is huge with Ceramic

I have great experience with chemical guys v7 hybrid sealant over ceramic coating. Its more like a detailing spray, ceramic safe, and leaves a SUPER smooth surface. Ive tried a bunch of others like mothers, meguiars, etc... the V7 is the ticket spray on wipe off no nonsense.

Just had this polished and ceramic sealed. I asked about maintaining it. He said good microfiber towel and the green bottle from Meguiars.
