Looking forward to runnng a wacker boat again. :thumbsup

Any guys run Amsoil in their shops? Do you premix with Dominator or see an issue with this on 2.5 260's? Trying to simplify my garage a bit. Looking forward to getting some Garmin footage once I get acclimated.

I bet that boat is a blast.

I asked this same question a while back on s&f. Didn't get many replies, but got a few pm's. Most guys had their own oil they recommended (pennzoil full syn, klotz, etc) but the majority said mercy premium plus, and an astounding number told me stay away from amsoil.

Not sure how much it really matters, but I've always ran merc (except in my cheaper 2 strokes) and never had an issue.

No Amsoil ever. Premium Plus, Merc race oil, 100% synthetic Pennzoil or Klotz r50 @32:1

This is what I was told. Those motors are too expensive to take any shortcuts. 32/1 is safer and two strokes like oil. It's not going to hurt it in any way.

Has the oil injection been removed from motors?

The 2.5 race motors don't come with oil injection.

I take that back. The 200ROS has oil injection.

The 225 Promax from Mercury racing also came with oil injection. I did not realize the 260s and 280s did not have oil injection.

I still run the injection on my 300's. But I've removed it from all my other merc's.

My stock chrome bore 2.4 I run 40:1, mostly because it has 10 gallon tanks and a qt/10 gal is 40:1.

All the others I've premixed at 32:1.

No injection and you need a new credit card for the fuel consumption, things are thirsty angry little buggers

I can't believe how good the 300xs is on gas. Ran down to the springs and back to the islander Wednesday. Then to needles brige yesterday and back. Burned maybe 1 tank (20 gallons)

Great mileage...when we raced our 300xs at The Parker Enduro, we got 4.1 mpg at an 88 mph average speed. We also won the overall with it in 2012.

My 250 xs gets much better mileage than the 300xs!!

That is why my new boat will be getting repowered with 250XSs. DBR can reprogram ECU to add another 30 hp. 👍

Yep - I can see how this is going to go. :D

I had an awesome time driving the boat yesterday on day 1 - getting used to a few things. Nice getting back into a smaller boat.

I recently blocked the oil injection on my 1998 Promax 300.

First couple of tanks on the premix I have been running the quicksilver advanced premium plus at 32/1 in 100% AV gas 100LL.

Now with bypassing the injection I am looking to other options.

I looked at klotz and this Merc racing oil as a new go-to. I would continue at 32/1 with 100% Av Gas.

Are these still the recommended options from those here with real world experience?

I don’t know what’s recommended in a promax. But always run Mercury products.

your WAY over-octaning!!30% AV100 with 70% pump 91 is more then plenty.I run 30-50% AV with 175psi cranking compression on S3000 2.5 drag.Your 100% is actually costing you some power..

Race fuel by itself will not add any power... If anything, having at least 17 more octane points than needed could hurt power. The higher octane number just means it burns slower. In a perfect world you would run the lowest possible octane without detonating. High compression to a certain point is where your power comes from, the race fuel stops the detonation.
