Had the wheel bearings packed last week. When they jacked up the trailer the springs extended and exposed the ubolts. 😱

Trailer is a 78’ so I’m assuming they have been replaced Atleast once. Looks like the bolts are too big or the axle is just not centered in the trailer ?

I’m taking it in tomorrow to see what the trailer place says.

East county alignment and brake in San Diego found this btw. I’m not sure I would’ve caught it before failure. It’s not visible while sitting level.

They aren’t all that hard to change yourself, …. Unless you have to cut them off but even then, a angle grinder with a cutoff wheel makes quick work of them.

Ask me how I know

If they are old & threads all rusty, it’s way easier to cut em off

Just doing it myself. Got a kit. Too easy with the boat off. New ones will grind as well though. Why is it designed this way?

I can see the problem buy am having a hard time seeing the solution with out seeing more of the trailer? Are the axles centered in the fenders? I looks like that axle needs to move back from the frame crossmember? Or clearance the crossmember so the new bolts dont rub? That had to be one squeaky trailer going down the road

Just finished putting it back together. Just cut some grooves into the cross piece. It really is a cosmetic piece with everything else holding the boat to the suspension.

The shackle movement is what allows the axles to move a little.

IDK about that, I'd weld a plate across it, you would still have your clearance that you cut but you would be getting the strength back.
