We ended up placing 3rd out of eight teams. Our routine was flawless until the very end when they couldn't throw one side of the pyramid.

It was a great showing IMO since the team was basically stripped down and rebuilt with a lot of new faces.

I missed the Vegas updates. I was sick the whole time. I started feeling off at the check in line. 2 hours later I was down with the flu. I spent all 3 days in bed. in vegas. BOOO
I made it down for their performances but bailed as soon as they were off stage.

They won 4.2 and took the sportsmanship award. They were happier with the sportsmanship award than the 1st place. I love these kids.

Good luck to your girl. Our next stop is Palm Springs. Every Cali team is coming :eek

I'm hoping the C's bring their motorhome, that was a pretty nice setup they had last year and I enjoyed having a cooler close by. :drink

Right on John!! Good luck to your teams! Our gym isn't doing any Palm Springs events this year. Jen and Kaylee will be going to Dallas and I will be hanging back with the boys.

We are here! About ready to head over for day 1. Competing against 6 teams this year so the competition has definitely grown.

Got poured on yesterday driving through Palm Springs but cleared up nicely all the way to Phoenix.

Got to the hotel and my regular 2 queen bed room got upgraded to a suite! So much nicer having room for the kids to run around and a closing door on mom and dad's room....[emoji6]

Dinner at Ocotillo last night was amazing......2 martinis later and I slept pretty good.

I will be in Palm Springs on Saturday. We perform early so hopefully home by 1pm. Not going Sunday......Got a playset to build and a super bowl party to go to......We originally weren't scheduled for this competition but they added it 3 weeks ago......I have missed Super Bowl too many times because of this competition so not doing it again this year.

There is a really good Mexican place close by. Not walking distance though......Hotel bar or Casino would be your best bet.

Good luck!

Great weekend in Palm Springs. We have been going to this competition since the beginning and have never won a national championship.

I went on Saturday and they hit their routine flawlessly with zero deductions and were sitting in 1st place.

I stayed home today to work on the playset and smoke my wings for a superbowl party. They performed today and hit again.

With that, the first time I don't go to Duel in the Desert, they win a national championship! So stoked for my daughter and her team but super bummed that I missed it.

My daughter is on the far left sporting her Varsity National Champion backpack.

Doubt I will be going. Someone has to stay back and watch the boys and I don't know how to do hair and makeup. Looks like another boys only Desert Storm trip.

Nah, just learn to do hair and makeup by then.

I'm going solo this year if you don't feel like towing.

Woo. Congratulations.
Our girls had their worst ever. Like ever ever. Practices are going to suck for them and be extra long until Dallas. :grumble:

My daughter's team (San Diego Cheer Elite - Tsunami) came in 3rd out of 11 teams at NCA in Dallas. They had a drop on day one and were tied for 4th. One of the girls suffered a sprained ankle that turned out to be a hairline fracture. They performed amazingly on day 2 with zero deductions. It was their best performance of the year. They moved up to 3rd and .03 away from 2nd. Too bad day 1 couldn't have been a little better...who knows. Very proud of their performance. For a small no name gym in South San Diego, that's not too shabby.

Then on top of that, they just found out they were awarded a bid to Summit. :champagne::champagne::champagne:

My 8 month pregnant wife and daughter just landed in Florida for Summit!

Good luck to all the teams this weekend! My daughter is actually cheering on 2 separate teams at Summit this time.

If anyone is there say hi to the very pregnant mom from Intensity Athletics.

I just loaded up the truck and I'm on my way to Havasu 😎😎😎

Our neighbors just got back from Worlds in Orlando. They won it last year but not sure how this year went.
Good luck to your daughters team Joe.

Good Luck at The Summit 2017. This is the first time in years we haven't gone. It's kind of bitter/sweet.

Worlds just wrapped up with a solid showing from The CA AllStars. 10 teams went, 7 made it to finals.
Rangers: 4th place
CALI Coed: 4th place
Lady Bullets: 5th place
Smoed: 4th place
Sparkle: BRONZE
Reckless: SILVER
Black Ops: GOLD

Did they accept the wild card or is it an indicator of whats to come? Our gym declines wild cards because they remove you from Full and At Large consideration.

We start our season with back to back one day'ers at Long Beach and Ontario this weekend.

yeah I heard a lot of teams don't accept the wild cards. we are quite a small gym and I don't understand the politics but yes they accepted last year and this year. I think the parents like a one day competition and a weekend at Disney. our next completion isn't until Vegas in December.

Cheer Politics sounds funny until you add up the amount of money parents put out. All of a sudden a .1 deduction is a huge deal.

We'll be in Vegas too.

So I'm gonna bump this back up..... who all is doing competitive cheer this year?

My oldest just joined the Mid-season team for Cheer Force in Simi. She did 2 years on a competitive cheer gym in Tucson so she is VERY happy to be cheering again.

Definitely don’t miss writing those checks. By far most expensive hobby any of the kids had. Travel, outfits, comp team, school team, lessons, super lessons,

Amen! Easy 12k+ a year was spent for several years. It got to a point where I didn’t want my wife to tell me how must it was costing.

We had what turned out to be an easy conversation with our daughter this year. “We have to pick one activity, cheer or the wake boat.” She very quickly and confidently chose the wake boat.

So i am once again bumping this old thread since this may be uncharted waters for all on here........

3 of my 4 are doing it this year. The only way this is happening is because the wife's laser stuff is finally financially beneficial. She was awarded the rights to make and sell Cheerforce items at the gym. All of the proceeds go to paying the kids cheer tuition. The older 2 are already almost paid off for the year and the baby is starting today. First practice. I'm a bit leary about her though cause she still has a hard time communicating and she is so damn tiny (only 25lbs).
