Last 3 years I have bought All new LED light strands for the house. I install them with care. Use the plastic clips that slide under the roof tiles so there is no staples or hooks to damage wires. And for 3 years in a row I have had to return all the lights because strands keep going half dead, or half dim, or just striaght up burn out.

I've bought Phillips, Homedepot brand, this year was target brand. They were C9 style bulbs and super bright and colorful. We had 1 rain event and 2 strands fucked up. One strand is half out, the other strand the middle 1/3 is out.

Im about ready to go find some vintage incandecent C9 strands!

We had issues with our 7yo LED C9 strands last year so we bought new this year, stayed with Phillips since our old ones worked so well, no problems yet, been up since the say after Thanksgiving. Oh and I just hang them over metal hooks under the facia board:D.

Yeah I'm a dick like that. LOL

Been hit n miss on any led strands I've bought regardless of brand. Just take one solder joint to crack. If they work when you put em up best to just not touch em again.

My lights piss me off every year. I gotta move shit outta the garage so I can get into the attic. Then dodge all the mouse shit to get the box down, spend one of my Sundays putting them up and half of another Sunday taking them down and getting back in the attic.

Old school C9's is what I use, never have a problem, cheap, and I can cut the strands and add a plug for custom lengths. No problems to speak of, except the bulbs get a little loose here and there, so I gotta pull the ladder out and tighten them up.

You can only string so many of them together...say 4 or 5 sections before they start to go shitty.

I would run an extension cord over my roof to the middle of the house and run them each direction from the cord from there.

Last year we bought commercial grade lights, C9’s, string them all together now, no issues.

Get stringers, bulbs, zip cord, and plugs so you don’t have to worry about it again. Never had an issue.

Do this here, was just going to reply with similar info. IMHO, buy the SPT2 cord with 18" spacing, with matching plugs. Also some spt2 lamp cord to make runners from eve to ridges. The bulbs are the money, I like the SMD C9 bulbs, they're bright and will last many years.

This...

All of my lights are on 3 different outlets, one strand goes over the roof with a heavy gauge extension cord, one comes out of my garage on a dedicated circuit for my swamp cooler, and the other is on my gfci by the front door. The gfci doesn't have many lights on it, as that one likes to pop easily.

LED lights just quit working sometimes. C9 lights break if they come within 6" of any piece of concrete or brick when you're putting them up or taking them down.

Can't win.
