Anyone on here that does chrome plating? Or who do you guys use? I have some old bronze Flatbottom parts I need stripped and re-chromed. Anyone you would recommend?

x2 on Albertos's. I have also Used Pacific polishing and plating in Pomona...but it's been awhile. For smaller custom car stuff, I try to stay with smaller shops. Small parts disappear in big shops. Probably not such an issue with boat stuff, not as recognizable to the average.

I second Vernes. Have had good experiences with his work. Others not so much.

Is Orange County plating still around?
They did Banshee parts for me in the 90s that still look good.

I restored an old 1946 Firestone bicycle for my wife in the 80s and they did the chrome, still looks good. I don't think they're in biz though.

OC Plating is still operating. I have not used them for chrome but they've done lots of powder coating for me. Great people to work with.

Holy Cow, the cost of re-plating is nuts, I had no idea. Seems like the prep is pretty labor intensive, so I get it. Got quotes between $500 and $1300 for the small box of parts below. Its cheaper just to buy brand new parts from Glenwood..........

It's all the Ca regulations. I guarantee you send that box out to a place in Az. it'd be couple hundred and the quality would be a million times better because they can do it the right way. I wouldn't bother plating anything in Ca. Quality is not so great compared to out of state. It's the same shit with paint too. Can't buy good paints in Ca, gotta get that stuff out of state.

Damn, that's surprising. When I went to get a bicycle frame re-chromed a few years back, it's was gonna be like $800 at a local Ca shop. Ended up shipping it to Az. through a buddy that builds plating rectifiers for the plating industry and it cost like $250.

Just came back from OC Powdercoating, picked up snowboard benches. They have recently closed the plating division. Orange County had made it impossible for them to stay in the plating business. Soon there won't be any plating left in SoCal. They are still powdercoating as shown.
