How bout splitting some 3/8ths fuel hose?

Thought about that but didn't know if it would look like a hack job.

Poncho
I will go by on Monday and find out exactly what was used but I think Warpt71 is correct. This is the kind of stuff that makes hanging out with these guys fun. The hose could simply be cut by hand with a razor blade and would functionally work, but the chance that you could cut a straight line in the hose is pretty questionable and would most likely look like crapola when done. Pete and Sean made a tool specially for this job, to cut the hose, perfectly straight. Most would not see that kind of detail going on with this stuff unless you have been there.:D

Thanks,
I've considered some kind of doorseal, window trim etc. but didn't want to spend the money to be wrong.

Not sure about you guys, but this stuff blows my mind !!!! Might be easy pezy for some but I struggle to wrap myself around the thinking that goes into producing such a crucial piece of a drag boat!!!! Screw this up and someone could loose their life, can't really go back say, "Sorry" ??

I have to say living in NYC and boating in this area I look at the creative stuff the Left Coast crowd turns out and it's amazing. You NEVER see this back East. Very nice
These guys are true artists. Of course you also never see Wildone raise his motor up and learn how to drive past 86 but I digress.

GregG, if your the kind of person who appreciates attention to detail and finer craftsmanship of materials applied then you would really be impressed getting up and close to their product. The pictured do it no justice. Its like fine furniture....the stuff you keep for a lifetime.
They really think this stuff out and brainstorm on new ideas. Seriously....its bitchen.

What Mike has mentioned above has to the understatement of the Decade!
Pete and Sean rock the industry!

Keep the pictures flowing! Incredible work that the Rolls Royce factory floor craftsmen would be envious of.:thumbup:

Copy GregG how about this.... Not that good of a pic but you get some idea of the trick stringers the owner came up with. A very subtle detail once the boat is done but very cool and just might stand out in a field of awesome boats??? Not sure I would rig it, might just sit and look at it !!!!

Almost every part of this boat is handmade, here are some more examples.... brackets for the return spring on the down pedal and plate rod, all done by hand... nuthin off the shelf!!!

Why the wings on the side of the strut ?

From my understanding, the wings help fly the tail in the event the prop comes apart or the prop shaft breaks (the tail would drop and possibly kite the boat backwards) until it slows down enough for the hull to keep things under control ?? This is only used on hydro hulled boats. Talk to Pete and Sean for the real deal and super secret speed tricks !!!

I talked with Pete last weekend and our's should be in the mold after the black boat. Having talked with them (Pete & Sean) and seen the pictures of their work, these guys are truly craftsmen! I'm not sure yet if I can bring myself to drill a hole in it or just park it in the garage and admire.

Sorry Mike, we actually put our order in last December and had to wait this long to get one. I guess all good things come in time! We are going to drill holes in it and rig it, my oldest kid can't wait to get started. The exuberance of youth!! We should have her ready to go next season, maybe even have some seat time so we're not going in blind!!:D

Do these guys fabricate all the stainless steel parts in house? There is a lot of machining and welding going on. Man, I can't get a set of SS316 removable windscreen frames built back here. Not a lot of dudes left that can do that type of "cradle to grave" work :thumbsup

I can tell you all the fab work and most of the machine work is done in house, and some of the really heavy-duty over the top complicated machine work is done by a "guy" down the street that has a building full of the big boy machines !!! As far as windshields are concerned, Sean built one for a friend's daughters mini hotrod, all done to scale. The guys at the hotrod show went nuts over it!!

Kurtisflat
I was by the shop the other day and the boys were busy on the one in the mold now, trying to get it going so they could get to yours !!!! Those boats are really almost to pretty to cut holes in but.... cant wait to see what you guys came up with !!!

I know this, when I talked to Pete last weekend said they were doing 7 day work weeks. That sucks! He is however, going to pick-up my V-Drive from JJ Beaver this weekend at Parker. That came together well. Just so you know this is going to be a 9.0 or T/E boat. The engine is a 13.8:1 509, Heads are Brodix BB2+ (at Grose racing getting magic done), we're also gonna use one their forged props, pricey but damn they're a nice piece. The hull is going to be laid up Seagull Gray then the graphics are going to be done in purple, blue, light blue, and fushcia. We have a guy up here that did an awsome job on a freind's boat! We're really starting to get excited about this, it's coming together!!!

Hey Mike hows it going??? Hope all is well.

Pete and Sean were bustin it today!!! barely got them out there for a bite to eat...
I saw the BAF and it was all apart maybe for plating or polishing ??? I like that one a lot because of the dark wood in the floor. I'll check back next week to get an update.
