Ours is at Millenium Biltmore. It’s generally enjoyable.

Mine is in 2 weeks in Vegas. Pretty informal and mild gathering until i check out. Bosses is at Pelican Hill for the weekend in Mid-Jan. After a few years of cold weather locations he picked warmer weather.

Needing some ideas for surprise gifts. What are some that your company gives out during the Christmas party?

We will be giving bonuses later on, so these would be extra during the party.

We are just a hardware store so we are closing early on Monday and taking everyone out to Olive Garden. We normally go to various places but we had requests to go back to the Garden this year. We give out gifts and play games with some cash prizes... PARTY :)

All Christmas parties, which are usually luncheons, were canceled this year. It was “suggested” that due to the new hospital unnecessary expenses should be curtailed. I couldn’t be happier because I had to do all the work and even though I always asked for suggestions, people would still complain

A few days ago an article in the Wall Street Journal detailed the new normal Christmas party that is spreading across the country.

Alcohol free parties are becoming more widespread, and men are on their guard about giving hugs or making personal comments to women.

This "new normal" is in a period where the 54 year old Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer TV special is criticized as being sexist and racist as well as non-inclusive and bigoted. This is completely ignorant and quite stupid, considering the main storyline is all about outsiders, how harmful preconceived perceptions can be, and acceptance of others different from yourself is part of being a kind and honorable person.

Of course, the fact that it's being discussed at all in that regard shows how amazingly stupid the Twitter Fucktard Universe is.

Among those observations was the suggestion that the TV classic was a story about racism and homophobia, while calling Santa Claus abusive and bigoted.

“Yearly reminder that #Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a parable on racism & homophobia w/Santa as a bigoted exploitative prick,” read one comment shared by HuffPost. “Santa’s operation is an HR nightmare and in serious need of diversity and inclusion training. #Rudolph,” read another.

All I can do is roll my eyes and say "Really"? These people need a good ass kicking, perhaps that would cure their unbelievable stupidity. If nothing else, it would make me feel better.

I've had a wide gambit of Xmas parties in my career.

Company 1- Country Club out in the boonies- Dinner and dancing, 2 drink tickets, gave away some door prizes-grand prize was 2 Rockets tickets.
Company 2- New Hilton- Dinner, dancing, casino night, open bar,( we drank the place out) photographers, I was advised to wear a tux by my boss, door prizes included a really expensive camera, big screen TV, 1000 gift card, etc. You also got a comped room or your cab fare reimbursed(pre Uber). I found out later in the year the budget was 250k.
Company 3- House of Blues- Dinner, 3 drink tickets, They brought in arcade games which ended up being an absolute blast!
Company 4- Lunch, we bought our own drinks and got to go home afterwards
Company 5-New Hilton- Dinner and open bar at a hotel

The company I work for takes care of us...it ends up being an entire weekend. Golf, spa, massages, it is pretty awesome. The white elephant gift exchange is epic, I have so many pictures of the blow up granny sex doll with so many people....funny shit.

It was this weekend, and I am exhausted. I would love to take tomorrow off, but that wouldn’t go over so well. Lol

Many years ago when our daughters were about 6 and 8, I suggested they and my wife get all dressed up because we were going out for a special night. Unknown to them I had rented a stretched limo to take us from Carlsbad to Mission Bay for an all out company, family style, Christmas Party. Asked the driver to give a couple of beeps when he pulled in our drive way. The look on our girls faces when they ran to tell us there was a huge limo honking in our driveway was priceless and a lifelong great memory. Waterside under large heated tents, great food, hosted bar and a good band. It was one of our best and most memorable Christmas parties.

This brings back memeorys when I was around 10. I’ll never forget the Christmas parties that Eugene Birnbaum (he was a renowned strucal engineer in LA) would do. They were massive, hundreds of people, usually at hotel. Some years we watch pre release movies , always had dancing, dinner, drinks. Santa would come and pass out gifts to all the kids. Still remember them 30 yrs ago. I wish I was able to go when I was older, it was a hell of a party.

If you were in the construction business in the 60-80 in DTLA you know who he was.

Did that last year, then everyone went bar hopping afterwards. I didn’t go to the bars, but I hear it was a shit show. Execs included. Year before we rented out a bowling alley and we had girls being carried out puking their guts out.

Damm!! Where do u work??

I work for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Just kidding!! I work for a fairly large mortgage banker here in Vegas. We are the 2nd largest minority owned mortgage lender in the nation. So we do have a lot of Raider and Dodger fans, lol (and I’ll take some pics of the office to prove it). It is a very “young” and hip office space.
Last year we had an ‘80’s cover band that was a lot of fun.

Stand in line with a paper plate and spork, grab a plate of whatever they have laid out and return to my cage on Company time where I will most likely scope out what's going on here.
Wifes program involves going Downtown. Times are good, maybe the Hancock again this year.

No x mas party, no gifts, no bonus. Working Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. We have x mas and New Year’s Day off.

My boss is Scrooge!

If it's not in the contract, we don't get it. This year the holidays fall on my days off. Such is the life working for a fortune 500 corporation.
My last job, we used to have what we called the bologna fest where we had a cold cut platter in the boss's office during lunch. Eventually, he started having a dinner for the families. I figured it was nice that he did anything at all. Frankly as far as I was concerned, all he owed me was a paycheck.

Big company, not like the old days, too much liability. 90's was a hoot, open bar, good luck with your new girlfriend/coworker, hope you make it home ok. Nothing these days but taken care of in other ways which avoids any drama and is perfectly fine with me!

I was gonna say, Im pretty sure this is a mortgage company. Lol. Reminds me of the old days when my friends were raking in the dough and my girlfriend at the time worked for Daniel Sadek at QuickLoanFunding. That dude knew how to party. Young money! We took his private Jet to Las Vegas for the Christmas Party. The guy pissed money away!

Alot of my friends now are starving. Those days are long gone, and the rates keep creeping up.

This years party is at the Del Mar Fairgrounds again.
No spouses allowed to the party but there is dinner, dancing and alcohol ...and you can get a discount rate on a hotel room across the street.
Seems like a disaster waiting to happen to me lol.

My wife's company is flying us out on a private plane (Gulfstreem IV) for a weekend in Napa.

We will stay at the hotel there called the Meadowood. Spa day and private car to take us to wine tastings and dinner at Torc. Each employee was given 2500.00 in spending cash for the weekend over their bonuses. Not bad I guess.

I'm kidding btw!!! She isn't the wolf of wall street.

The Company holiday party was last Saturday in San Francisco. I haven't been to the party in a decade. I do feel bad as the wife always wants to go. I don't know that many people as I work remote and no one moving up the latter wants to talk to a lowly ABL Auditor anyway. lol.

My firm does a full reserved room/outdoor area in the south bay right in the marina. Some years its mixed up and we do it in downtown LA. Open bar (the tab is ridiculous every year), dinner, giveaways, some sort of entertainment and an Uber/cab ride to/from.

I go once every few years as it is the same weekend (first weekend in January) as the opener for Supercross which is a tradition that a big group of us either attend or host a party at on of our places.

The office space is pretty unique. It does spawn a lot of creativity. It’s a work your ass off company but let’s bring balance and make sure employees are appreciated.
You can relax and work on your laptop. The owner and marketing director will spin the tables

No company-backed party this year, because last year it appears that employees took advantage of the 1-2 drink minimum. And business has slowed in general. I’m ok with it, at least I get paid time off xmas eve and xmas day, I can hope for the best and expect the minimums. Or nothing’s worse than...unemployment!:oops:

I work for the state, I am just happy if I don't get a formal writeup if I say the word "Christmas" in a random conversation.....
I have actually been hurt by faith-based State employees because I regarded faith as personal, so even though I had fellow Christian state workers, I thought it best to separate church from the state and thus I never acknowledged sending internal emails of ‘Jesus is the reason for the season’ mentality. I was highly conservative then. And by law, and tax-wise, there is the case for freedom of religion (freedom from religion) cases; but many fellow state employees begged to differ and secretly condemned those abiding by state/federal laws so I have not experienced the condemnation of Christianity in state government work; but it’s such a touchy subject regardless, nevertheless I really do know where you’re coming from!
