Neat indeed, really enjoy this kind of thread. Like details too. A buddy of mine got a new Connelly back east here, in 1983.

how much stronger does the balsa core make the hull? is it a noticeable night and day seat of the pants dyno difference?

Focking Beautiful!!!!!!!!!! It would take 50 man hours at least to get any Schiada deck that straight.

That thing is going to be mean. Is it getting capped or rub rail?

just out of curiousity, you say "after 25 years..." however i keep seeing this recent connolly on craigslist. is this the first boat out of the mold or are there others? where did this "2009" come from? is it a fake?

Good question.

In 1987 I crashed my GN race boat. My injuries kept me from working for some time.
Being that I was the one that did the V-Drive installations, my dad decided to shut down the business and retire. The mold was sold and has been in a few hands since. There have been a few boats taken out of it by other glass shops. I searched for the mold when I decided to go back into business and found it with one of my old customers. He liked it so much he had purchased the mold.
So your question, is it a Connolly by Connolly, no. Is it out of the Connolly mold, yes.

The floor is beautiful, but previously it had balsa floors, was that overlaid with a veneer ?

I had assumed that the balsa was purely cosmetic, would seem that's not the case.

Awesome looking boat. :thumbsup:thumbsup

Do you object to visitors ? I'd like to stop by on one of my trips out see your work first hand.

With around 700 HP what would be your speed estimate ?

Thanks

It has balsa floors. We installed the veneer over the balsa because we wanted something different...

The balsa is for strength and light weight

Awesome looking boat. :thumbsup:thumbsup

We love people to come by and show them what we do!

It depends on what type of layup you desire, This particular boat would be in the 75 to 80 range.

Thanks

Awesome thread ! I am sure it's been discussed before but does the whole rigging begin with strut location and angle and then work from there?

What a beautiful boat. Is this boat going to be on display at Desert Storm? If not can we come by and check it out at the shop?

How much power is it going to get?

How about putting up some history about the Connolly 21" V-Drive.

I would go by the shop in the early days when Bob (dad) was showing Dave how to build a custom high performance boat. Seems like most of the boats looked like the one in the pics.
