...So at dinner last night Gary Emory was trying to talk another friend of ours who we call the Judge (attorney/judge)...trying to talk him into coming down and checking out the new Emory Motor Sports facility...
...I’m not sure if the Judge got the tour today...but the irony would be if since the Judge has a ‘58??? Speedster in his 25 or so varried collection he decided to commission Rod to make an Outlaw of it..,hmmm???...not so sure that would be a great idea...but hey...it’s not my car???...

Id do it if I had a Speedster sitting around. Their outlaws are awesome......

Here is the link to Emory Motorsports: https://www.emorymotorsports.com/outlaws I love their outlaws......

...The tentative plan for today is to meet up at the new Emory Motor Sports shop around 5 ish...Me the Judge, Gary, and Randy Chaddock who was a friend of Gary’s father Neil Emory back in the ‘50’s...(Valley Custom)...
...So far haven’t been able to get a response from Randy who is mid 80’s...who hasn’t seen Gary since Gary was a kid...and has never met Rod...
...If the plan comes together I will try to remember to get some pics to post...haven’t been in the shop since it was about halfway set up...

Had some interior work done, and the owner of the business has a Continental obsession. While doing interiors, he also restores Lincoln’s. Shitty pics, but this one went to Alabama.

...The 22 Car just competed in the Copperstate Classic...The owner wanted all the bugs left on the windshield...so the the bugs are still on the windshield...

...Zack...Gary’s nephew doing something to one of the cars...All I know is it got real loud with the sound of grinding after awhile???...
...The second pic is a Potter engine that was taken out of a Karmen Ghia...and is designated to go into one of the Porsche’s...It is an entitiy unto itself...not a Porsche or VW part...Supposed to be the latest trick innovation in the way of 4cyl power for the air cooled German cars...
...Zack drove the Potter powered Karmen Ghia and gave it a huge thumbs up...

is this 908 a kit from the 60's? At 908K, it would be cheap if it's a original. I'm not sure if the 908K is the model, not the price. They would be in the millions if it has racing history.

...I took it as model 908K...I asked Gary if it was a 908..He said it’s a 908K...I will ask him tomorrow if it has racing prominence???

Haven’t talked to Gary yet...but it may be one of 5 remaining factory works cars which were the beginning of the legendary 908 shorttails...If so it has a racing history...350 horse flat 8...

...A real Speedster...”Outlaw”...which has a removable hardtop for which they are in the process of having a lexan rear window made...Forgot what Gary said about the windshield???...

...Gary just sent me a text and said the 908K is the real deal...If he comes by later today I will ask him what the speculative value might be???...That is not even the most valuable car at the shop...

...I had a hard time getting $5K for this 356B in the late ‘80’s...Rod Emory just paid $29,500 yesterday for a B that is straight but somewhat disassembled...

...Here is the big money car...The Gamund...Won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1951...the 1100cc class...When the Resto was completed it’s value was estimated to be right around $19 mil...in the 2 years since completion the estimated value has grown a bunch...to what I don’t know???...
...At some point in the future it will most likely end up in the Porsche museum in Germany...
...dulled finish...hand painted numbers ...just like it was in ‘51...

Thanks for all the Emory pictures..... Love the old Porsches.

I saw a Datsun 240Z while at lunch today. It was a pretty cool little car back in its day... My Dad had the 280ZX turbo version in 1982. He waited for the 5spd. When the turbo first came out it was automatic only. He traded it on a 911SC is 1983.

Gary was the parts manager when I was the lot boy at Chick Iverson in Newport Beach. He probably wouldn't remember me but Bernard ran the shop and I reported up to him back in those days (late 70s early 80s).

I have seen and spent time looking around that Gmund car - it really does look authentic in the way it was restored. Literally, 1 of a kind! You mentioned some of its history - but wasn't it also the first Porsche to ever win a race?
