I've watched this house being built for the past couple of years. Didn't think they would be putting it up for sale but here it is. It's built into the hillside.

Anyone that has taken Topanga to PCH and back has seen this house being built as well.

I drove by that alot and couldn't figure out what they were doin. Driving by it you can't the front but you could see the back and the water proofing they were doing was insane.

That’s definitely cool! I don’t think I’d like the lack of windows, but it is hospital sanitary inside

Looks like it’s pretty fire proof. That’s key as insurance companies that are still in the market to place insurance in that area now charge outrageous premiums. All throughout the Santa Monica and Malibu mountains and valleys.

The earth's temperature at 20-30 feet down is always between 50-60f so they very well could be doing some type of thermal cooling in summer.

Driving by it for years it always looked like a owner builder build for their own use. Surprised it's for sale. The grading took them year's to complete.

Going to need a grading permit and a few of these bad boys to do a re-roof.

Go up to Taos head north shit ton of earthen houses
My SIL & BIL have an earth house in Taos. It's pretty amazing when it's 0 degrees out and the house is pushing 75 due to the window lay out etc.
I believe they bought it from one of the Grateful Dead band members

That's more like it! Although if it was mine I'd buy an old firetruck and firefigthing suits to keep around. . My high school buddies dad did that just in case

Every time I pass by I wonder how long it is going to take for someone to try to park on the slope side of the house.

Wall heater in the living room is weird...

Lots of weird stuff. Seems like a lot of "spec house" stuff in there.

Has anyone ever lived there or is this a new build straight to market?
