This condo in Hermosa was repiped less than 5 years ago. Already had a pinhole pop. Type m copper in the middle of a run. Here is a look at it from outside and inside. Thinking they did not ream the pipe as they were to lazy to wipe off there flux.

Luckily it was over hang under kitchen so no damage inside. Just have to patch the stucco we cut open. Pulled all the insulation and got a blower on it. Replaced the type m with type K copper. Subs girlfriend rents the place. Told her to expect more and if leaving for the weekend turn off main.

They switched from chlorine to using chloramine to treat the water. Not reaming the pipe after each cut causes it happen even faster. You no longer want to use type M copper even though it is approved above ground. Below groundbis type L the next thickness is type K.

And wipe off the extra damn flux. That acid paste cleans the pipe for soldering... but aids in corrosion later on if left on the pipe. Wipe soldered joints clean with a damp rag.

Some of the pin holes are so small it is crazy.

stay away from M. Most of the copper in the last 10 years came from overseas. Unless specified USA. which this was obliviously not.
Thats just a hack job re-pipe. get in, get out. 1 year warranty type work

Also, some of the new water 'safe' flux is complete crap. As well as the solder itself. There a huge difference in quality. The good stuff is twice the price.
