This should get NGE fired up!
For the longest time, my 2003 V10 Excursion had a sort of shift "bump." Not a slip, it was almost as if the shift points were off. The problem started in about 2007.
I've been wrenching on the old gasser, trying to get her back to 100%. This includes troubleshooting a stall condition the dealer couldn't figure out (bad fuel pump relay that is soldered onto the CJB), tires, shocks, sway bar links, slotted rotors/calipers/brake pads, air filter, new IAC, and a new MAF. Still pending are the PCV valves and a front end wheel bearing or 4X4 locking hub, I still have to troubleshoot a ticking noise and this project is next on my list.
Fast forward to this past weekend, and I installed the new COPS and plugs. And, just like that, no more shift "bump." As suspected, it was a bad COP all along.
So for anybody with a gasser that uses COPS - when things start going all wonky...take a good luck at them!
Sorry NGE
