Starting out a lazy day but the neighbors party with a band is going to pump up the volume later.

happy Memorial Weekend everybody. Take a moment and reflect on our heros of the past.

Until this hit. Pretty substantial downpour. Yesterday I slept thru two inches of rain over about 1.5 hours.

ok....Last appt today with the Doc and I am kicking ass and will re-start my journey next week. Probably take the Harley out for a ride in the next few days and see how that goes but I don't really see an issue. Will have to shorten up my driving days for a while due to swelling so I can ice and advil but its getting better every day.d

Going to head up thru the Smokey Mountains on the 77 for a bit.

Will post updates as I proceed.

I have really enjoyed hanging out with AJ and Patty and they couldn't have been any better hosts. Its just time to hit that open road.

If you make your way into Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area lots of moonshine distillery and a few Bourbon Distillery you can tour. A bit touristy but can be fun

Sorry to say but the 77 runs due east of the Smokies. Yes that is beautiful country but you need to get closer Tennessee to really get "The Smokies".

After the 77 I think then I head thru the Smokies.....I have to look at a map. I am definitely going thru the Smokies.....I am sure I can find em :)

Beautiful area. I recommend Blue Ridge Parkway, there are several side loops that would be great for the Harley. Just a heads up, the roads through the mountains there may not have shoulders or wide lanes like you may be used to. Embrace the southern hospitality!

You've got a spot to park in Michigan if the wind takes you here.

Will do.....I am trying to fade into Montana before Sturgis in July but don't know if that leg will be completed or not. Maybe after Strugis but.....wanted to eliminate as much as possible any wild cold storms that might go thru.

If you are talking about WV.....I have lots of family there but probably not going thru.

I have to really sit down and look at the map and come up with my route. If I knew the area better I would just head North and mosey thru but I have to have some kind of plan.....lol

You guys drive careful. Jen and Robert should be back in TX in a day or two so if you need anything there don't hesitate to call them.

OK....So leaving Sunday to get on the road. Loaded the bike up today and just prepping everything. Been a while and want to make sure all is good. I was going to leave this past Monday but wasn't feeling like it was the right time. I know my leg will be getting tired while driving and of course there is always the possibility of blood clots so....gave it one more week.

Next stop is in North central FL....staying at a farm there via Harvest Host and then heading towards the Smokies.

Will start taking pics again while on the road.....

If I recall there is a dumpy little casino on I40 with a free campground in back. Electric and water. Great for an overnite stop if there are open sites.
We stay at Indian casinos all the time when we just need a place for one night. Our experience is they are usually cheaper than a lot of campgrounds and it’s almost always never a problem finding a space. Full hookups, clean level pads and usually a restaurant. Can’t beat em.

Plan for extra stops Tom. A little walk around and elevate the knee and take a rest in the hauler for a bit. Glad you're enjoying life and the U.S. 👍:)

Thank you.....I do plan on that as I don't want blood clots for sure...

First leg is a little over 300 miles and may even split it up in 100 mile increments. Last thing I want is to over swell the leg. If I had no issues I could run 600 miles easily but a man has to know his limitations....lol
